And how many years past their peak they were?

    Oleg Maskaev is an example.

Got his 1st title shot at 37, years after being destroyed by Kirk Johnson, Lance Whitaker and T-Rex Sanders,
Yet knocked out Hasim Rahman again (7 years after their 1st fight) and won the WBC belt.

His prime was around 1999-2000, he won the belt in 2006. That's good 6 years.

    Add your examples guys.

Sonny Liston was supposedly early to mid 30s when he won his title. He looked more like late 30s.

I believe he was past his prime by the time he picked up the title as he is a step and a half quicker and more mobile in his earlier recorded fights.

I swear I posted this a couple days ago. Maybe there are two threads. Firat Arslan did it.

Not a popular guy on this forum but Sven Ottke was an exceptional amateur fighter that had over 300 fights and didn't turn pro until he was 30. He was clearly on the slide as a pro and definitely didn't deserve his undefeated record as a pro. With that said, the guy had excellent footwork and timing.

I would also mention Lamotta who also was on the slide when he finally won the Middleweight title.

British bum Frank Bruno finally won after being koed the first 3 times he fought for the title. Way past his best he was wiped out by Tyson in his very next fight and was never seen in a ring again.

If you listen to many (and i'm not completely among them) John Mugabi was never remotely like he'd been when coming out the far end of the Hagler battle. So 3 years according to many.
