he had a poor jab, a poor defence and still became a very good fighter, he had elite footwork, that was his main asset as a fighter

No, he had elite footspeed. There is a difference between footspeed and footwork.

Take away his footspeed, can you honestly say he had elite footwork?

khan has elite footspeed, hatton had great technique, take away his speed?, take away Ali's footspeed - does that make his footwork not elite?

you're a decent poster so lets agree to disagree.

to me, footwork = footspeed + technique/effectiveness, 'take away his speed' - thats a retarted statement

Soz, had to point this out :good

Khan has elite footspeed, but terrible footwork.

Hatton had elite footspeed, and good footwork (not elite).

Taking away the speed is not a ******ed statement. Speed is not linked to footwork. Prime example being your Khan example. Just because he has elite footspeed, does that bump up his footwork to being good and not terrible? Nope.

Elite footwork is someone like JMM and Mayweather (who are still active).

    Another example.

Pacquiao has very, very good footwork, he made Hatton's footwork look horrible...why, because he could not only match his footspeed, but he has better footwork.

Saying Hatton's footwork is not elite is not a criticism, he has elite footspeed like I stated. Very few boxers have a combination of the two.
