Canelo doesn't hold a title at 154, and nor does anybody hold two.

Really good job at naming them too :thumbsup:thumbsup

The 154-lb division has been held hostage by Floyd since his fight with Canelo. Canelo has already defeated the #2 and #3 Jr Middleweights in the World, but there are other fights at 154-lb that could be made for Canelo, like vs the WBO Champion Liam Smith. (for the WBO belt and the other vacant titles)

Fights like that can re-establish Canelo as a title holder at 154-lbs. He’s the #1 ranked Jr Middleweight in the World.

Why would he vacate a title he just won? He just beat a future HOFer and won the most prestigious of the Middleweight Titles. He earned that title, he should not have to vacate his title. He’s the Champ now.

WBC had already indicated that the winner of Cotto-Canelo has to face the WBC's mandatory challenger, Golovkin. The winner has 15 days to declare his intentions. If fighter does not make fight with Golokvin, he will either need to vacate or risk being stripped. This was already in place prior to the Cotto-Canelo fight.

His intentions are to fight GGG. If I were Canelo's Team, I would say to the commission that he will agree to fight GGG at 160, but only if he is able to secure a 154-lb World Title Fight for the vacant 154-lb titles or something like that.

We all want to see Canelo vs GGG, but we don’t want to see any more catchweight BS for something this big. If that means we have to wait a year, so be it. I’d rather wait for that to build up and see some great title fights at 154-lb until Canelo is ready to move up and fight GGG.

If Canelo were to agree right now to fight GGG next, then it would rule out the possibility of a rematch with Floyd at 154, or the opportunity to re-capture the vacant 154-lb titles vs another ranked 154-lb-er.
