:hi: Hello, the team of Ward is not stupid! Styles make fights. And the Interbox exposed Bute sending him to fight in Nottingham.

But I would love to see Ward against a top southpaw like Bute (lefty).
Against solid southpaws or against dirty fighters like Bika who love clinches.

Probably prime B-Hop. Ward is a notch slower than Jones Jr. was, and he doesn't hit nearly as hard. I don't think he would be able to keep Hopkins off of him. Hopkins by mugging. Hopkins' lead right hand was also a thing of beauty when he was in his prime. He would also have Fischer in his corner.

Agreed!:good Who do you see coming up though?

Froch is the next best guy in the division currently (officially) and he has been beat.

    AA beat.

Kessler is up at 175 and said he intends to stay there, plus got beat by Ward at 68.

Adonis Stevenson gets beat up and is at least 1 year away from fighting Ward. At least...probably more like 2.

Oosthuizen is mos def not ready.

    Pavlik gets battered.

    Rubio would get outboxed.

Dirrell the only guy at 168 IMO.

At 175 you have cloud but he was already exposed and beating him wouldn't do much for Ward, unless Cloud looks solid in his next 2-3 performances.

    Any other top 168 pound fighters I didn't name?:think:huh:huh

I don't see Ward getting outboxed or outsmarted in the foreseeable future. He's far too well-rounded, versatile, and adaptable to get beaten in a thinking man's technical fight by anybody around his weight class.

Really, I only see someone considerably bigger/stronger than him who could force him onto the back foot, cut off the ring, and bully him in close, or a super hard puncher just catching him with something he doesn't see coming on the way in as the only ways he could lose.

That just narrows it down to a roided-up Chavez Jr. in a few years or Golovkin, and both of those are long shots. Cavez Jr. has the size, the strength, the ring-cutting ability, as well as the inside game and the power to potentially give Ward trouble, but Ward's foot speed, footwork, and movement would probably let him stay out of too much trouble, and Ward can box from range when he has to. Moreover, I don't know how well Chavez will be able to bully people at 168. For all we know, he might not be as effective at what he does at 160 up at 168. Golovkin, meanwhile, I think is just a little too small. I don't think Ward could stop him, but I'd favor him to grind out a decision. Ward's great at throwing those short hooks and right hands and then tying up immediately, and Golovkin's bombs seem at their best in mid-range. Ward's uppercuts would also cause Golovkin trouble when he comes forward. Golovkin would need to be able to close the distance and time Ward, and while he seems solid, it's a mystery on whether he can do that to somebody with Ward's adaptability and multidimensional game.

Basically, I don't see Ward losing unless he gets caught with something huge and unexpected or he has big physical disadvantages to deal with in a fight.

He's pretty much done it all with the current crop of guys at 168.maybe if the likes of Golovkin or the Chavez/Martinez winner move up there could be some interesting fights.
    Loghtheavyweight could also be interesting

    Good post!

I don't see Chavez Jr. as much of a threat. Chavez Jr. is a lot bigger than these MW's but the SMW's can MATCH his size or come in even bigger than Chavez.

Unless Ward has some huge downfall and becomes like Meldrick Taylor became, post Chavez Sr. I don't see Chavez Jr. or his size as any type of threat to Ward. In fact, Ward looks just as big as Chavez Jr. but he isn't standing up next to MW's so you don't see it as much. He is standing next to SMW's.

Also, Chavez would not be a big 175 pound fighter or anything. I think Dawson has bigger shoulders, and a bigger chest, plus walks around at the same weigh that JCC Jr. walks around at...probably more...Chad look like he walks around at 190-195 while Chavez Jr. walks around at that 185 mark.

I like your post, I just dissagree in Chavez being big at 168. He may be "big" but he would not be "massive" like he is at 160. I also don't think Chavez can bully these 168 pound fighters like he does to the guys at 160.:thumbsup
