We constantly hear about the glass cannons of boxing, the Wlad's, Hearns, Jackson's and even Mitchells', guys with tremendous power but lacking in the chin department, but not much about the opposite let's name fighters with cast iron jaws, yet unable to smash a cake Floyd Mayweather anyone?
Paul Malignaggi - total iron 12 rounds with Cotto. 11 rounds and would have seen the bell if not stopped on his feet, while not particularly stunned, against both Khan and Hatton. 24 rounds with both Ndou and Diaz, while not big punchers, Paulie never got stunned. 10 with Edner Cherry. 9 without being the slightest bit hurt with Senchenko. That's a whole lot of rounds with quality boxers. Only few of those guys have serious world class punching power but considering how little power Paulie has to theoretically keep them off of him, etc, I'd say he has an iron jaw. I know Cotto stunned him a couple times, Khan too, Lora once in the first round of their fight, but he doesn't ever buckle or look wobbly or show any wear after taking shots considering how many rounds he goes. How many times has he been down? Cotto once and Cano once is all I think...
i disagree. paulie is a smart boxer he doesn't take the full power of his opponents by moving his head.. bradley comes to mind..
Mayweather certainly doesn't have no power. He was known to be a two-fisted puncher when he started out, really.
Mayweather is a real good combination puncher. He was especially so at Junior Lightweight, Lightweight and Junior Welterweight. A master blaster. As regards the post question I think the great Jake La Motta fits the bill. Lets remember punching power is relative.
