there seems to be a lot of people here skeptical that boxing may be at its nadir as far as skill is concerned. they remain skeptical even as they note the praise going to robotic plodders from eastern europe for their technical superiority to the rest.

so who other than mayweater was as skilled as james toney? toney wasn't even the most skilled middleweight from his era.

What other middleweights from Toney's era were more skilled than him?

Hopkins, RJJ and McCallum are at least in the conversation. One could add Eubank (I would but mist wouldn’t) or McClellan

Roy Jones? Had more physical talent but I don't see the argument for him being a more skilled fighter than Toney. Ditto for Eubank and certainly McClellan.

McCallum and Hopkins are much closer calls but I don't really see either of them as being more skilled than Toney either.

Was part of Toney's skillset the ability to fight 30 seconds a round?

I love Marquez. Was lucky enough to see him live 11 times. He’s been my favorite fighter of my lifetime.
