Toney didn`t achieve more than Loma has achieved already, aside from beating McCalum and he struggled more at middle than light middle, the Nunn fight wasn`t that great, Starling fought better against Nunn than Toney did aside from the KO punch.

I feel Alvarez achieved more in his fights with GGG than Toney ever achieved, GGG was better than McCallum at middleweight, he would have destroyed McCallum`s middleweight opposition easily, Hopkins was better than Toney, but the rest of list is awful, there are really good fighters on their lumped in with fighters at a lower level, very random I feel.

Nunn struggled badly against Starling he couldn`t get through the high guard and was very easy to hit in that fight.

Eubank was a lot easier to hit than Toney, McCallum would have toyed with Eubank and Toney would have destroyed Benn, Eubank never outclassed his best opponents, he never matched Toney`s rematch performance vs McCallum. McClellan was very easy to hit.

Toney had some brilliant skill no doubt.

Loma and Garcia seem more complete packages than Toney to me, but they are smaller on the other hand. Crawford is another name that pops up, but he is also smaller of course.

As for MWs, I'd say that Canelo and Toney are very close in style and quality. Both struggle with mobile fighters, but are excellent against those that will trade with them. Great head movement and punching technique.

After looking through this thread amazing Toney went from overrated to massively underrated in the space of a few posts. Some of the guys listed as more "skilled" then him is a disgrace. When Manny Steward and Freddie Roach say your the most naturally gifted fighter they've trained that speaks volumes.

Preach on my man! Lots of fighters on these lists (Freitas, Ottke, Dzindzurik, Kessler, Forrest) WISH they had 1/10th of Toney’s inside game.

Thanks to Bill Miller’s influence, Toney’s a true throwback who could’ve fought in any era. This is not to say he didn’t underachieve, despite a 1st ballot HOF worthy career.

I still wish the Hopkins fight didn’t fall through. It would’ve enhanced Toney’s reputation and dulled Hopkins’s just a bit.

I still wish the same thing, although it would be B-Hop gaining the enhancement and Toney the dulling! Not that either guy would suffer a great deal from a close loss to the other....or even better a 2-3 fight series that elevates both of them.

I think both are great, but believe Hops was better.
