Name light heavy champs that could have beat McCallum more convincingly than RJ did in `97

GGG or Canelo have never met a boxer with Roys speed and power.
Jesus Canelo met Mayweather who is fast and got his head boxed off.

Mayweather was one of the ten fighters of all time and Canelo didn`t know what he was doing v Floyd, he`s improved vastly, he even improved after the first fight v GGG.

Mayweather is not a Top 10 All Time fighter. He's ATG though.

    He was very hesitant.

He was afraid of being countered. He had Floyd on the ropes but he backed off instead of implementing Oscar's strategy, which impressed the judges.

He's definitely improved since then. But he would have had absolutely no answer for Roy's speed and unorthodox style.

Is someone saying Canelo would defeat Jones? Can't see that at all. Jones is too big and too fast for Canelo imo.

I like Canelo's style much better, but this will be a shutout on the cards (well, not on cards like the one who gave Canelo a draw against Floyd, but on realistic ones).

Canelo would take Roy`s shots better than Roy would take Canelos best shots and Roy`s size wouldn`t help him against Canelo`s body shots.

Yes, I couldn`t see Jones taking the shots GGG took off Canelo and Canelo took hard shots from GGG in their first fight and their second bout that Jones wouldn`t have been able to take.

Jorge Castro, BHOP, Toney, Julio Gonzalez and of course Mike McCallum were all brutal body punchers that could not do anything with a prime Roy Jones. I am not knocking Canelo at all but Roy was on another level in his prime.

Respect for going all out with an opinion few will share, but for me Canelo is easy pickings for Roy. He has never showed himself to cope well with speed and in and ot movement, even against guys with his own height and reach. Prime Roy had substantially more speed than even the Floyd Canelo met, not to talk about size and power. Trout and Lara gave Canelo all he could handle - Roy would have a field day.

Floyd`s counter punching speed was the same as Roy`s.

Canelo is a lot faster than a 39 year old flabby McCallum was v Jones, Canelo is a better body puncher than all the oter guys you pointed out and would have destroyed Castro and Gonzales.

Faster than old Mik, yes. But so? Mike hardly won a round against Roy.

He hasn't really destroyed many MWs (and Gozales was LHW), but perhaps. I don't know and I didn't bring them up. And it would not change the fact that Roy's speed, size and power would be too much for Canelo.

Don't agree. But it wasn't really counter speed I was talking about, but getting in and out. And Floyd in his mid 30's wasn't close to prime Roy in that aspect.
