Name light heavy champs that could have beat McCallum more convincingly than RJ did in `97

I don`t get how Jones is better than Canelo or GGG and I don`t rate his opposition much, Toney was dreadful in his fight wit Jones, he was much better v McCallum because he stood in front of him, Toney was a great fighter with flaws one of them was he couldn`t cut the ring off on Roy and Jones really didn`t land that much on him, nor did he land much on Hopkins even though B-Hop is in a clip on the vid I posted about a part Roy`s game that was great.

I say the punch Jackson knocked Graham out with would have knocked Tate out, he was coming to the end when he faced Tate, McCallum stated Jackson had the fastest hands he ever faced at 154.

No way would Jones try to stop Jackson that soon, it`s completely against his style, he did it against lesser fighters and Griffin because Montel outboxed him in their first fight, him trying that v Jackson would have been suicide, he couldn`t do the stuff McCallum did on the inside in that bout.

So Jones should have sacrificed his brilliant movement against Toney and stood in the pocket to get a pass from you?

FFS the reason Toney looked dreadful against Jones was because Roy befuddled him and simply wasn't anywhere in the vicinity for Toney's counters. It's called ring generalship and Roy had it in spades that fight. It was a virtuoso performance and Toney simply wasn't in the ballpark with Jones that night. Marking him down for that is bullsh!t and downright disrespectful towards a brilliant ring display by Jones.

I really don't understand where you're going with this mate.

Jones never proved he could be savvy on the inside like McCallum in the middle of a furious brawl with a puncher like McCallum did v Jackson, or how Hearns and Hagler did in their scary epic, or like Duran did v Leonard, all these fighters foughht better on the inside in these bouts than Jones ever did, when Griffin got on the inside while Jones was on the ropes in the first bout Jones was sloppy, he missed wildly in the rematch with Montell and did not fight on the level Mike did v Jackson, coming out blasting just wasn`t Jones thing, he knocked out lesser fighters like this, Tate was not at that high a level all he had was a good chin, it was a good display from Jones in that bout but pales in comparison to McCallum doing that at the higher level v Jackson at 154.

Griffin didn't outbox nobody in the 1st fight. Both threw only a handful of punches and barely landed anything cleanly.

You talk as if Toney had feet made of cement.

Have only read through a bit of this thread, but it's weird that people respond to Opie's Jones bashing with about as biased Mayweather bashing.

Mike was pretty degraded but still had his chin and smarts.

I think Jones pretty much did what he had to do.

I don't think any champs would have Kod McCallum.

    Doubtful.

I agree McCallum would never beat Jones at any weight, though because of the difference in foot speed.

    Yes, he was a southpaw.

So on what basis would GG and Canelo not also have gotten hit by him?

You didn't rate his opposition much?

You don't get how Roy was better than Canelo and GG?

This is the type of post that just makes me scratch my head and ponder whether or not you're a troll.

Roy EASILY beat: Tate, Malinga, Toney, Sosa, Griffin, Hill, Reggie and Ruiz etc.

He beat Hopkins with an injured hand.

He beat Tarver after burning muscle in a few months to drop back to LHW.

Most of the guys he beat with ease were whilst he was campaigning in his 2nd and 3rd weight classes.

Now tell us exactly WHO GG and Canelo have beaten?

Because if those wins of Roy's don't impress you, then how can their wins impress you?

What are GG's best wins? Brook, Jacobs and Canelo?

    What are Canelo's?

They don't compare at all. And your posts on Quora should see you sectioned. Because you've got to be out of your mind if you honestly believe that GG would have beaten a prime version of Roy at MW. A guy with a 70" reach, with no head movement, who gets hit with ease and who marks up.

    You're living in a fantasy.
