"Two Ton" Tony Galento had Louis on the canvas
and was God fearing as well.

Leapai's not even good enough to be Wlad's sparring partner.

Can anybody think of any era in any weight division in history that is as bad as the current heavyweight division?

Is Leapai even the worst fighter Klitschko has faced as Champ?

I just mentioned the Two Ton Galento vs. Louis fight-that era was horrible
    Patterson vs. Johannson cruiserweights
    Micheal Spinks? Yawn cruiserweight

He was barely good enough to be Kevin Johnson's sparring partner let alone Wlad's.

You do not want to go there: 169 lb. Billy Conn?

Joe Louis had only a few questionable opponents, really. Some of his title reign is questioned, but only few of the guys weren't in the top 10 at the time of the fights and many were off and on fixtures of it.

Given the eras, I'd rank Louis' seemingly mid-tier defenses over Pastor, Galento, Nova, Godoy I & II, B. Baer I & II, and Simon I & II as all being clear cut better defenses than Wladimir's defenses over Leapai, Pianeta, Mormeck, and Peter II with Peter II perhaps being the only one of those better than one or two of the listed Louis defenses.

Wladimir has only defended his claim as lineal champion 9 times. I don't like all the claims of his defense streak approaching Holmes' or Louis'. I'm a big fan, but citing his weak opposition is needed when discussing his reign. He does have some particularly lacking-of-meaning lineal title defenses.

I will say that there are certainly other cases even among lineal champions of the last decade. Some notables would be:

Pongsaklek Wonjongkam's flyweight lineal defenses against Takuya Kogawa, Hirofumi Mukai, and Sonny Boy Jaro. Also, Toshiyuki Igarashi's flyweight lineal defense over Nestor Narvaes. And then Akira Yaegashi's flyweight lineal defense over Oscar Blanquet (not to hate on Flyweight; it's been my fav division for a couple years now).

...only surpassed among Wladimir's lineal defenses by, who, Povetkin and Haye? Cool.

"Two Ton" Tony had Louis on the canvas
169 lb. Conn had him beat
Joe was a great fighter, and a great American but he fought in the worst era against the worst comp.

Wlad was never on the canvas then?

The difference is Louis bounced straight back up and gave Two Ton a pummeling.

Wlad crawled around on the ground.

Louis only lost once until his first retirement and that was when he was a green 18 month novice pro fighting a very wily former world champion.

    Wlad has fought nobody.
