All he has is the DLH wins, Vargas and Mayo were both shot, and he beat noone else of any signifigance, RJJ beat Hopkins, Toney, Griffen, Tarver, Hill, Gonzales and Ruiz, SSM's resume is light yrs behind Roy's.
Woodall might beat Collins, and would have a puncher's chance against Graham, but none whatsoever against Watson. Reid, again punchers chance with Graham, but none with Collins and Watson.
i think reid has a decent chance with collins, also note i didn't put graham along with watson or collins as he was a far beter fighter. I just can't see how in fighting toney gets anything from calzaghe, he had some shocking performances at lower weights.
I couldn't disagree more. Jones's resume is far and away better than SSM's. Take away the 2 DLH wins, one of which Shane did not deserve, and you are left with wins over Philip Holiday, a past-it Vargas, a past-it Mayorga, the mediocre Collazo, a few old men at 135, and that's that. It's a terrible resume when set against his talent/skill.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. You mean he got his ass waxed twice by Winky Wright and Vernon Forrest which surely is a tremendous detraction (especially Forrest). Surely you're counting W's not just appearances, right? Cuz appearances don't make you an all-time great, it's the W's that do.
Agreed. Why is he overrated? He was actually very technically sound, even if he wasn't a great pure boxer. Is Whitaker overrated because he wasn't a master puncher? Is he overrated just because of his pure boxing ability? No, because he was able to use it at an elite level, just as Jackson was able to use his power and punching technique at an elite level. Nothing overrated about him at all, he'd be a live opponent against anyone. Collins had around 20 fights and a share of a few Euro titles when McCallum beat him. He beat Eubank twice, obviously something about Collins's style made him gun-shy. What do you mean "when he was older than McCallum"? Harding is on the same level as a guy like Woodhall that you tried to throw in there with nobody noticing. No, you're obviously underestimating them because your knowledge of them extends only to what you read on Boxrec. McCrory, and Kalule especially were top notch fighters. Kalule holds a win over Sumbu Kalambay, one of the best pure boxing technicians in MW history.
Graham could find a way to lose against anyone probably. 30-24 up on points against Jackson (my card) and tries for an unnecessary KO when the ref has indicated 'one more round' Crazy.
I may be sticking my neck out here, but I don't think you've actually seen much late 80s/early 90s boxing, ie Graham, Collins, Watson, and Toney. Have you???
