Olivares-Rose, while it lasted, has to rank as one of the greatest displays of punching I've ever laid my specs on. I know that Rose was killing himself to make bantam by that point, but the way that Olivares was able to close the distance so quickly against such a smooth mover as Rose before letting rip with everything he had through the eye of a needle still leaves me slightly slack-jawed at times.

Even though this answer may seem highly unoriginal Duran really hit Leonard with every punch in the book - from the outside aswell as the inside, bodyshots and uppercuts in the clinches as well as laser quick right hand counters off Leonard jab. A masterclass that deserves to be mentioned.

Kalambay-McCallum 2 features very good textbook technical boxing from the outside but well... perhaps not a great punching exhibition.

A recent example could be Marquez-Diaz and some of the round in Marquez-Pac 1 if we're to speak purely about pure punching technique and variety (I know the performance in itself isn't comparable). He hits Diaz from all angles and manages to look extremely fluid in doing so.

My favourite is Chavez vs Rosario. Chavez´ best performance - those left hooks to the body and uppercuts were something to behold! Not to mention the fluency. Against a very good opponent too which was to be made increasingly broken down and helpless. Chavez managed to be close an able to neutralise much of Rosario offence and still find all sorts of openings. Ha carved him up and that's what makes it special for me.

Toney vs Barkley I guess also qualifies. James got the right kind of opponent to really be able to showcase his punch selection, counters and even combinations.

What's with all these excuses you are making for mcgirtt's opponents? He beat simon brown because he was better than him, he was hardly shot. He beat howard davis cuz howard always choked when he fought anyone decent. He also beat pretty good fighters like patrizio oliva, genaro leon, joe manley, tony baltazar, gary jacobs, frankie warren and saoul mamby. Mcgirt was a solid p4p fighter in his heyday. It sounds like buddy refused to give you an autograph or something.
