No ones questioning his ATG-ness. He is an ATG.

I doubt any fighter gives a **** what people on a forum thinks of them.

Yes, they are ATG Heavyweights, and they are ATG's. Not Top 75, though in terms of greatness. Alexis Arguello IMO is the greatest super featherweight of all time, that does not mean he's a Top 40 ATG for example..in my book at least.

General forum is ok sometimes, but it's mostly gutter trash based on racism. For a serious boxing talk, Classic is where it's at.

This is where it gets way to muddy for me. Either your an atg or your not. What's the points of splitting hairs to widdle it down to 75 guys when you have centuries of fighters to consider?

Who said my limit was 75 guys?

Btw..I'm not so much a fan of Money May, but I am one of the biggest fans of PBF.

Maybe I just misunderstood your overall point. I'd just like too see more respect given to ALL great fighters regardless of whatever holes exist in there resumes

Agreed on your last point. Floyd is competing at the highest level at a point in his life most fighters are given the age excuse. It might no longer be entertaining, but So what if he's been boring as a 35+ years old super welterweight when he's still winning AND gave us so many great performances at lightweight, super lightweight and welterweight

That's alright. Tbh you may also misunderstand what comes across as 'hate', but it's really a testament to how great I think Mayweather is. I'm holding him to the highest standard championed by the TBE's before him. That's why it seems very cut-throat but it's ultimately all nit picking, but this whole construct is a boxing forum where we all discuss and dissect - people forget that and start feeling all kinds of butthurt. Because I think they're ridiculous for their butthurt, I like toying with these guys.

At the end of the day, even though I call the older version of him Duck Runhugger and think there's a lot of truth to it, boxing is such that his more recent awful style still counts as boxing even though it doesn't show as much mastery defensively than his earlier days..nor does it show mastery on the level of a Pernell Whitaker who was able to reaallly fight whilst being slick.

Whittaker wasn't a dominant force at 38 though

And it's a testament to his true greatness that, as you rightly point out, there were two distinct phases to his career (I'd say the good hands/bad hands divide but you can use his switch in moniker as a point of demarcation) and he was able to adapt his fight style to keep winning, all while moving through the weight classes, taking on elite names and going toe-to-toe with Father Time.

Whitaker had more fights in a shorter period of time, ring age is the thing to consider. But not only that, Whitaker fought the better top names in the condition they were in.

Floyd Mayweather isn't going to be as good as Hopkins is at age 49.

I get the sense that if Floyd would have retired 5 or 6 years ago people would see him as a greater fighter. I don't get that.
