And most boxing fans probably would agree that Whitaker is the more accomplished champion. Seems fair enough

No, that's certainly not true. He definitely gets points for his wins in his 30's - consistency and longevity at the top level. Is it as telling as a win over an ATG? Nah but still it's good.

Wins over Cotto Canelo Hatton maidana and pacquiao in his late 30s are more impressive than a lot of guys have in there primes

Technically you're right, but no Dallas. I'm talking in their prime RIGHT NOW fighting and are already considered a prime ATG/HOF'er lol... "Prime" is the keyword. Gannicus has yet to answer this question.

Once you get through the first 20 names or so on an ATG list, wins over definite at or near-prime HOF fighters become a little harder to come by.

Eder Jofre typically lands in the Top 50 of all time great lists and is considered by many to be the GOAT at bantamweight. Yet, he never defeated a sure-fire HOF fighter who was in or near prime (Saldivar was well past his best, and he's the greatest name on Jofre's resume).

Carlos Monzon defeated Griffith and Napoles, but they were both past their peak. Benvenuti's HOF credentials are kind of borderline and he was on the slide when he met Monzon anyway. Valdes and Briscoe were excellent, but neither are sure locks for the Hall.

    Etc.

Anyway, we'll wait to see what Alvarez does in the next couple of years. That's a win that already looks good, and could look like a great win for Mayweather once all is said and done.

It's a little too early to be critiquing Mayweather's body of work, especially when some of his opponents are still fighting at a high level.

Just to play devils advocate let's look at some of the "ATG's" you listed.

Leonard split to a blown up past prime LW Duran, was losing to a green Hearns before the stoppage and got a gift draw in the rematch, waited until Hagler was shot what's his Prime HOF win?
Pacquiao fought Barerra coming off brain surgery and some wars, fought Morales during a 1W-7L streak, drew with JMM and didn't fight him again til he was a past prime 35yr old and really lost, according to you Hatton/Cotto aren't HOFers what's his prime HOF win?
Hoya lost to prime Mosley twice and prime Trinidad officially what's his prime HOF win?
Benitez best win is a former BW Duran and lost almost all his big fights etc....
Hagler beat past prime WW Hearns, a shot Duran and lost to a shot WW in Leonard.
If you wanna be a d!ck enough you can nitpick anything stop hating.
