Diego went on to KO Acelino, TKO Casamayor, and KO Castillo. All guys people say Floyd ducked or had a close fight with. Diego also retired Robert Garcia's ass and popped his 0 cherry in the process.

Floyd beat that guy, Prime Diego Corrales.

Also add Juan Manuel Marquez to that list. Juan chased that fight and people tend to forget that. Floyd never asked to fight him Juan wanted it.

This is the most self-defeating logic of all. People's fantasies about when a fighter was "prime" extend to their memory of their best wins, so it's only natural these same people call the self-same fighters past-prime when they eventually lose to the better fighter.

There's probably less than a dozen fights in history when two ATG fighters fought each other at their best weight and at the peak of their respective abilities.

That's the thing - people scrutinise Mayweather's record more intimately than others.

Let's take Hagler - only fought bloated lightweights and welterweights with regards to ATGs. Is Hagler anything but an indisputable ATG at his weight? No. Course not.

    :good
He fought all of the seventies and into the late 80s without one good challenger until Hearns, Duran and Leonard moved up.

That's why he relates so much to GGG they both have to wait and pray somebody comes along to legitimize their weak resume. Never looking up only down in divisions.

so what? he fought a bloated, undersized, counterpuncher, that he cheated on the scales, and then forced to fight outside his style, just so there would be a fight... and he was still afraid to go after him. thats what counts in a discussion, not whether some little guy decides he wants a payday so he challenges the younger, faster, bigger, stronger man 2 divisions above him.
the jmm victory is nothing for foyd, or his fans, to be proud of.

Cotto still boxes at a pretty high level, regardless of what you say, and it's not inconceivable that he could go down to 154 and win another title, if he's so inclined.

Alvarez is a fine, heavy-handed counter puncher with good accuracy. He also had a significant size advantage on Floyd and was coming off a good win over Trout. It was a nice scalp. Dismiss it all you want, but I have a feeling it will look damned good as time goes on.

As for Benvenuti, he was terrific as a junior middleweight, but as a middleweight his reign left a bit to be desired. Two out of three against Griffith is great and all, but at least one of those two decisions could have gone Emile's way. Beyond that, a few good but not necessarily great contenders. I think he's a little bit overrated, personally. Stylish boxer and all, but never the type to blow me away, either on paper or film.

Itsa, I'm talking about when those guys were in their prime. I know that a few might get into the HOF, but during their prime were they prime ATG/HOF fighters like Leonard when he fought Duran and Barrera when he fought Pac supposedly. Or are you like me and other true boxing fans and actually wait until their careers are over to judge them?

There is always an excuse for degenerates like this. But when you read this post and then Gannicus's, you draw it up. "The JMM victory is nothing for Foyd, or his fans to be proud of". :rofl.

Purposely written to disguise the fact that I know who your sorry ass is. ****en lame.

This is stupid.. So Floyd don't get credit because Marquez didn't come in the condition fans thought was acceptable? Him being "bloated" means Floyd don't get credit?

Undersized? What does that even mean? If a fighter is bigger than his opponent, the bigger guy don't get credit? How is that fair?

Forced to fight outside of his style is what you just said.. If you force a brawler fighter to counterpunch, you don't get credit for beating him?

Yall just say any dumb thing to make Floyd look bad.. The Marquez fight don't count because Floyd made him miss too much...smh
