Name me one person who Calzaghe has beaten that Hopkins wouldn't have?

Based on what? Certainly not how good they were on the night. Look at their title reighns as well, you can't tell me that Hopkins opponents are any better during that time and Calzaghe's reighn was longer too. So what have you got left? His stint at light heavy during which Calzaghe beat him? Don't forget Calzaghe became the only south paw to beat him when he was past it, (Hopkins on the other hand having one of his best ever performances in his next fight) with a totally biased ref against him. The only thing B-Hop has over him is longevity but Calzaghe was much more consitant.

what does it matter, when they both met, calzaghe won the fight, end of.
roy jones has a better record than antonio tarver, but head to head tarver always had roy's number. its the same with hopkins and calzaghe, they could have fought eachother as many times as you want, but joe would always come out on top.

 

You tell me who Hopkins has beaten who is so much better? Basically their title reighns are the same with Calzaghe beating Kessler in his 21st defence and Hopkins losing to Taylor in his 21st defence. The first comment you wrote in this thread is a joke as well. If your going to critisize Joe for having those kind of fights just remember that Hopkins fought a lot of guys of that standard too, even drawing with one. Those in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

He could beat the older version of Kessler, yes! But there was a lot of talk about a possible Kessler vs Hopkins fight after Calzaghe beat Hopkins, but Hopkins didn`t want to fight Kessler at that time. So if he would "smash" Kessler, then why didn`t he take that fight!? Kessler was former WBA/WBC Champ and a pretty big name, and Calzaghe refused a rematch with Hopkins. So Kessler`s scalp could actually seem like a really good avenge for his loss to Calzaghe. The truth could maybe be that Hopkins saw Kessler as a bit to dangerous at that time

Everyone knows Roy was physically drained after losing about 20 pounds of muscle in such a short amount of time,he was never the same when he dropped back down to lightheavyweight. Not taking anything away from Tarver ,he knocked out Roy and won the fight,No question. But lets be honest he didnt beat Roy at his full potential.

Bernard landed the harder and much more effective punches on Joe.

He beat Calzaghe.

Calzaghe was very ineffective and missing the majority of everything he threw at hopkins.

Thats the reason its called a "controversial"
split decision.

 

Calzaghe humiliated Hopkins and made him fake low blows to buy time.
