    Heavyweight Edition

Spinks-Holmes I - King pulled him up on short notice looking for an easy, but marketable fight for Larry's bid to match Marciano. Spinks was a sizable underdog, and nobody expected him to put on that much good weight that quick.

Morrison-Bentt - Coming off of upsetting Foreman, he had a big money showdown lined up with Lennox. He took Bentt too lightly and paid a huge price for it.

Foreman-Morrison - Common thinking was that a slugger like Tommy who had chin issues would be cannon fodder for Big George- indeed, George mentioned he thought his would be his last fight and wanted to go out with a title around his waste. Nobody figured Tommy had it in him to outbox Foreman over 12 and fight smart.

Foreman-Schulz - Classic. Arum bribes the IBF to get Schulz ranked. Schulz wins the fight, but gets robbed. Foreman winds up dropping his title rather than rematch the unknown fighter his team had to bribe to get ranked in the first place.

Nobody's gone for Margarito vs Mosley? Everyone thought Shane was done and then he rolled back the years to bring the hammer down on that cheat.

And no C.J I'm not up for debating the hand wrapping scandal with you.

Actually the cherrypick was the 3rd fight, where Pacquiao and Roach thought time and welterweight had caught up to JMM.

"I've instructed Manny not to have mercy on Marquez, we're going to shut his mouth up!" - Freddie Roach

"Not even God can help Marquez vs Manny!" - Alex Ariza

This is MMA, but probably the worst cherry pick that went straight to hell was when Heath Herring was preparing to rematch Nogueira for the HW title. He needed an easy touch to tune up with, and I remember Stephen Quadros insist with almost a little too much earnestness "this is not a gimme fight" as they viewed his opponent, who to be honest looked a little underwhelming compared to the fearsome Herring. The somewhat pudgy Russian in the opposite corner was called Fedor Emelianenko ... :buzzoff

Margarito cherrypicked Shane Mosley, after watching Cotto beat him and thinking Mosley was past his prime.
