Yes, but at the age Pacquiao was when he was at 106, Jones was in the Amateurs fighting at 134 and 139....Pacquiao started fighting pro at 16, so he was no where near full sized.

I was only counting major championship's won..@ weight.
if we are counting starting weight then I would prob throwout...

Jersey Joe Walcott from 155'ish to 213'ish against Louis = 58lbs
(Except he was fighting REAL Fighter's)

The actual weight may be the same, but Bantamweight to Middleweight is far more impressive than jr.middle to heavy. The reasons are, Fitzsimmons was a middleweight who did it, Toney was a middleweight who did it, Joe Walcott was a 5'4'' welterweight who wiped the floor with Joe Chomsky, a leading heavy of his time who stopped Jack Johnson, Sam Langford was naturally a middleweight who beat Harry Wills, Joe Janeatte, and "Fireman" Jim Flyn, who stopped Jack Dempsey, and guys like Floyd Patterson & Chris Byrd were middleweight( Byrd was less i believe) at the olympics who bulked up in wheight to fight at heavy for more money. No fighter who began his career at 118lbs ever had real success at 160lbs. Also, Duran was 38 years old, in about his 90th pro fight, and 22 years after his career began when he beat Barkley. Jones was what, 33, after 15 years when he beat Ruiz. Another reason, Jones had about 5 or 6 years below Lightheavy, Duran had 13 years below Welter. I give Roy tremendous credit for beating Ruiz, but it's not nearly as impressive as what Duran did. Toney running over Ruiz later also took some of the mystique off of Jones' win.

    Another example:

Imagine how much more respect ray robinson would have got had he beaten joey maxim at light heavyweight

A title holder who was essentially nothing special right? But i can guarntee that in a historical sense it would have been looked up very favorably. In fact, i'm very sure people would have been very quick to point out robinson won titles from welterweight to light heavy weight.

Interestingly enough, given that robinson started off as a lightweight, that would have been a career increase of 40 pounds had he been able to take the title from where he had originally started.

Great post, bro. It's nice to see one of the greats get some recognition. The answer to your question is that no one else has in recent history has accomplished what Roy Rones jr. has.

People should not dsicredit John Ruiz. Lennox Lewis avoided him. Ruiz emerged from his three fight series with Evander Holyfield as the WBA champion. He also defeated top contenders such as Fres Oquendo, Kirk Johnson, Andrew Golota and former champion Hasim Rahman.

People discredit Roy's win because Lewis was the obvious best, and guys like Michael Spinks, Gene Tunney, Ezzard Charles, and even Michael Moorer all fought the best heavyweight in the world and beat them.

I'm still more impressed by James Toney.... He went up to Heavy weight not to fight John Ruiz and run back down destroying his body to 168lbs just to fight a guy that he already beat.

Toney went up to HWY and stayed there (fat as hell) but he stayed. And he didn't fight a John Ruiz and stop, He fought someone that has 4x the punching power of Ruiz and was 260lbs on fight day. THAT is INSANE.

Roy Jones didn't want any part of the bigger heavyweights that were around at the time, James Toney is a fearless man!

Joey Maxim was not "a titleholder and essentially nothing special." He beat Freddie Mills, "Jersey" Joe Walcott (at heavyweight), Gus Lesnevich, and Jimmy Bivins, all hall-of-famers. Plus, he was THE champion of his division, unlike Ruiz. His only problem was he could not do anything against Ezzard Charles, losing all 5 times they fought. His very last fight was a win over hall-of-famer Floyd Patterson just before Patterson won the heavyweight championship. I'm not saying Maxim was a great fighter, but without question better than Ruiz. Maxim would have given Jones more problems than Ruiz did. People often exagerate how much size makes up for the difference in skill and ability. A prime William Joppy was dropped 3 times and destroyed by Felix Trinidad in 5 rounds, a welterweight, and yet recently went 10 rounds with Lucian Bute, a top 3 SMW.

Hearns is 28 pounds. No idea why you've put 175 in the middle and not counted it?

WBO for ODLH as major title? I'd query that.

I have doubts about the legitimacy of Leonards 175 title too. Wasn't that when he made Lalonde come down to a catchweight? I realise he may have got the belt, but I have trouble with that being a true light heavy title.

If he fought again at 175 then ignore that.

    Meh, not really worth much.

Wasn't super middle created around the time of (if not specifically for?) Sugar Ray Leonard v Lalonde???

Right at the end of those guys careers?

But I didn't realise that fact, thanks. (No sarcasm intended there..)

The Heavyweight minimum limit was actually 191 at the time. Roy weighed in at 193.

So he only moved up 39 lbs.

Same ballpark would've been that cruiser that Johnny Nelson drew with and Braithwaite lost to, though he never won a belt at 200 lbs (Guillermo Jones was his name).

Even when calculated in % it still doesnt match. A big man adding an inch thick of muscle in his arms for example would weigh so much more than a smaller man, just because their limbs are alot larger/longer.
