Agreed. Why the hell do I, as a fan, give a **** about how much money these fights generate? Canelo / Trout is a fight that makes sense now, not because it would make tons of cash, but because Trout earned his shot by beating Cotto.

If not trout, hell, there are other 154lbers that Canelo can fight, what he shouldn't do is go for Cotto - who, despite being a great fighter - has now lost two in a row in convincing fashion.

Goddmanit, give us good fights and the money will come in, it's just a long term strategy instead of a short term cash grab.

Why should a boxing fan give a **** about which fight makes more money? Don't we want the best match-ups first and foremost?

There's no need to defend greed. If you're jaded and understand that money talks in boxing, fine, but don't defend greed over exciting, competitive match-making. You don't have a vested interest, so don't bother excusing the *******s making shitty fights like Canelo-OldManCotto instead of Trout-Canelo.

I think some of you get off more on fight purses and gate/PPV sales than the goddamn sport itself.

Personally I'd love to see any of these guys fight each other (you can figure out which ones would go with which):

    Ward
    Martinez
    Floyd
    Canelo
    Cotto
    Chavez Jr.
