De La Hoya has the best resume of any active fighter today. He has built a long career on fighting the best that boxing has to offer.
 No doubt, De La Hoya's resume is extremely impressive, but gimme a break with this nonsense. This is from a thread I did earlier on the classic forum. Sam Langford's probably stood out as the most impressive, but he wasn't the only one with an incredible resume. Maxie Rosenbloom:
Some of you guys just really get off on Oscars 6 titles. But stop and realize who he fought for some of them. Bredhal ... a fighter who never lived up to his potential. That title was a gimme for Oscar. Paez .... a joke. Paez is 5' 4" with a 63" reach who came up to Oscars armpits. A club fighter witha cheap WBO belt. Another gimme for Oscar. Castillejo .... This was a fighter who had never fought outside of Spain until Oscar shoved money at him to come here and "hand his belt" to him. Hell Castillejo had been knocked out twice by that French bum Bourdini before he fought Oscar. "Another gimme. Derrell Coley ..... I wn't even go there. Vargas .... Hell in the 3 fights before Vargas fought Oscar he was knocked down by weak hitting Rivera, wobbled repeatedly by Flores, knocked down 5 times and sent to the hospital twice and held overnight he was beaten up so bad. That's how Oscar got another belt. So if you really stop and think who Oscar beat to get some of those 6 belts they really don't make Oscar a guy who can walk on water. And most of Oscars titles are WBO. So you see his 6 title crap is not so impressive now is it?
Not to mention he clearly robbed Felix Sturm in the MW title fight. But, he did face a lot of elite competition in there.
Jermaine Taylor hasn't been around long enough. Other active fighters like Manny Pacquiao, Zab Judah (although he lost those fights), Erik Morales (he says he's fighting again), Felix Trinidad, Shane Mosley, etc...have all been around longer and have a longer list of stiff competition and great fighters they've faced.
I never saw those fights. I saw that Boudaini's fight with Reid. Were the fights with Castillejo any good?
I think Taylor gets respect for his opposition level. It's his overall skills/technique that get criticized more.
I just think after Taylor won, he could handle the pressure. and got a littlr lazy and cocky. Plus Steward couldn't help him. But his last fight he did very well against pavlik
