    BINGO! :good

Kessler is a very good fighter, but has NOT done anything to deserve the incredible about of praise he gets. Of cours they probably wouldn't kiss Kessler's ass if he never fought Joe C.

I AGREE , LACY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE BEST THING SINCE SLICED BREAD UNTIL HE SHARED THE RING WITH CALZAGHE AND THAT NIGHT HE TOOK HIM TO SCHOOL BIG TIME.
THE GUY WHO STARTED THIS THREAD IS OBVIOUSLY A CALZAGHE HATER!!!!:thumbsup

    That was Lewis' peak???

At age 37, one fight before he retired???

(edit: Oh I just realized you meant Lewis as the answer...yeah you could go with Lewis as well)

Kessler and Lacy two unproven commodities, not on anyones P4P list. Had not beaten a great or even top fighter at the time. Now one is gone and the other is ducking tough fights, hard to build an ATG case on Kessler and Lacy. The only fight he ever had was BHOP and he was exposed. This guy is a protected Champion nothing more or less. A prime Roy Jones would wipe his ass with Calzaghe. The shadow thats is Roy a now twice beaten fighter. Joe C will now become the third guy to beat Jones big deal.

NO. Corrales wasn't top 10 p4p at the time (not to mention he was on his way to prison regardless). Show me a link to prove he was.

Hatton was at the lower end (#9 I believe in p4p rankings), but he moved up in weight to 147, where he looked like garbage in against Collazo, almost getting stopped in the process.

Calzaghe fought Hopkins who was still ranked top 10 p4p at the time they fought.

I'm not sure if there is a legend that never fought an elite opponent ... despite winning or losing ...

I used to be skeptical of calzaghe too. Im a huge Kessler fan and KNOW he has the potential to be a P4P great boxer, and they way Calzaghe beat him erased any doubts of his ability.

You'll see Kessler bounce back back and prove his ability (barring a lucky KO punch).

Man what does it matter -- peak or no peak ... the fighter still has the same skill ... and no matter what physical attributes diminish - the fighter is still the same fighter that he was when he first became pro.

Fighters run the risk of getting beat every time you step into the ring ... I think its amazing that he had 20+ title defenses ... and no one had even came close to knocking him off the tracks. I don't care who it is ... with that many title defenses, you're asking to get upset ... that shows skill, consistancy, and discipline.

Do you really think I would post something like that without knowing it for sure?

    http://www.boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine%27s_Annual_Ratings:_Pound_For_Pound--2000s

    2000
    1. Shane Mosley
    2. Felix Trinidad
    3. Roy Jones Jr.
    4. Oscar De La Hoya
    5. Diego Corrales
    6. Naseem Hamed
    7. Floyd Mayweather Jr.
    8. Lennox Lewis
    9. Erik Morales
    10. Bernard Hopkins
And just for emphasis, here are the Ring Rankings for SFW in the year 2000.

Corrales going to jail is not Mayweather's problem. If Mayweather had never fought him, regardless of Corrales circumstances, people would have claimed Mayweather ducked him.

And regardless of what you feel about how Hatton looked, he was a P4P ranked fighter, unbeaten and in his prime. So the answer to the question is two based on the criteria set forth.
