I totally remember those days. I was so excited when I got the subscription to "Flash" which published the new results weeks (and sometimes even months) faster than the major publications (Ring, KO, B.I) did. (That being said, I still bought all of them every month for years)

I used to collect the ring mag every month.

The advent of the Internet made it redundant though.

This thread needs more of the executing alien.

If we're going on perceptions at the time? There's a number of possible Hopkins mentions where people thought he was shot going in to it, Pavlik (granted, that was a catch weight fight where Kelly wasn't champ) and Pascal, for starters. Surprised none of them have popped up. To a lesser extent, his age was also why Tito was such a favorite (Hops being 8 years older).

That is a good shout on Bernard. Bernard wasn't shot for Trinidad. Just a late prime in my opinion. But Bernard was definitely past it for Pavlik and Pascal and still taught them both a lesson. (Although it appears in retrospect that substance abuse problems had already undone Pavlik which is a shame)

Morales had a couple of those but was robbed.

Carbajal knocking Ace out. Don't know if it fits the criteria for this thread.

Juan Manuel Marquez beating Juan Diaz. Although I can't really say that Marquez was "shot". Definitely past his better days though.

Virgil Hill stopping Tiozzo in one to win a cruiserweight title. I know Hill had beaten Tiozzo before, but it was still pretty unexpected at the time.
