Sorry, but none of those guys are even close in my opinion.

The only name I agree with mentioned so far is Mark Johnson. I can maybe see Gatti, but I personally think his resume is weak for the honor, although from a 'fame' perspective, I can see it.

One name I'll throw out is Pongsaklek Wonjongkam. 17 successful defenses of his title, and other than Arce and Darchinyan (and maybe Narvaez, but none of those fights could ever legitimately happen for financial reasons), pretty much cleaned out Flyweight in this era. Beat every fighter he ever faced. Most popular Thai fighter of his generation, and the second best Asian fighter. I have little doubt that in his prime he would have held his own against a lot of hall of famers. If he beats Koki Kameda, he should be in in my opinion.

Another current guy who doesn't get much love is Fernando Montiel. Three weight class titlist, about 12 wins over guys who were top 10 in his weight class when he fought them. The big thing missing from his resume though was fighting the true top guys.

A third one (who I also think is close but no cigar, but who is underrated overall) is Masamori Tokuyama. 11 title defenses, beat all of the best super flyweights of his era, including two wins over Penalosa, Kawashima and Cho and wins over Kirilov and Navarro.

Oops, I made a mistake there. Larios never fought Hamed after all.

Wonjongkam has a good record of 78 fights (74 wins, 3 losses, 1 draw). He never fought in the U.S. which may or may not mean anything. Montiel has a good record too of 39-2-2 (43 fights total) including a win over Isidro Garcia and a split decision loss to Jhonny Gonzales. Tokuyama has a record of 32-3-1 (36 fights total). As you mentioned, he has good wins over Kirilov, Navarro, Cho (twice), and Penalosa (both his fights with Penalosa were very close including a split decision). Tokuyama has fought his whole career in Japan with one fight in South Korea.

I agree. Though Molina does have a good resume. He beat Tony Lopez and lost 2 though. Also had a win against Laporte.

    Jesus thats bizarre Brickhaus.

Those exact three were among my dark horse fighters of the last 10 years or so. Others being Kyowa, Parra, Calvin Brock and Sor Nanthachai..and we know how that ended up.

Montiel at one stage was my favorite fighter in the world..I had him in my avatar several times and was very high on him...Fell off the wagon a bit to tell you the truth but still a very good boxer-puncher at his best..Great two handed power for his size.

Ive said it many times that Pong is the best flyweight since TooSharp...Excellent defensive technician and easily the best flyweight of his era..I dont really rate him that well against the very best of the division ever but thats mainly because how ridiculously stacked it is at the top. If Galaxy is in there I cant see why he cant nick in there too.

No one ever listened to me about Tokuyama...I had a mini obsession with him for about 6 months...Still a few fights I need to see of his. But such a fine pure boxer to watch. Maybe my tastes have a evolved a little away from his more athletically gifted style but he was probably the best in his divvy even if for a short time and he was very vocal about chasing a fight with Hasagawa but got repeatedly knocked back.
I probably overrate him actually but I dont know I just liked him..Though he just about lost every final round I saw him in, he was such a **** to deal with early on when he was fresh and his legs couldnt carry him anywhere he wanted to be. He schooled the bejesus out of Kirolov.

I loved Larios. He was a great fighter, but not a HOF'er.
