    Also Hopkins-DLH was set for 158 lbs

    Yeah Hop-Wink was set for 170 also Roy Jones vs. Tito Trinidad as well

    There were some epic bouts in the between the welter and middleweight limits in the 50's and 60s before there was jnr middle divi..Some guys made theirs careers in them.

    Yep.

    Jake LaMotta fought Tony Janiro at a catchweight of 154 or 155, for example.

    Believe Joey Giardello fought in a few as well, perhaps against Billy Graham.

    I think that's more "infamous".

    Whitaker-Chavez was infamous, but not because of the 145 catchweight.

    Funny you should say that, "infamous" was the word I was going to use but I didn't want to risk the thread getting sidetracked!!

    Wasn't that at 168 though? It technically took place at a real weight class, not a catchweight.

    Leonard-Hearns 2.

    It was for two 168 lb. titles, but the contracted weight was 163.

    I don't think so.

    I read an article in the NYTimes discussing the weight issue. It was for the super middleweight title, yet both guys weighed 160 and below. After they weighed so low, there was some talk whether or not there would be titles at 160 and 168 at stake. They decided on only having the 168 lb. titles at stake.
