The guy had world class stamina, chin, and belief. He also had an excellent run of wins. He came up the hard way, took his chances and never looked back after the Chris Pyatt win. Beat British favourites Eubank and Benn twice!

 

He did wonders...., great guy and pick.

 

My Picks are related..................

Soulemane MBaye and Gavin Rees.

Both won world titles, Rees won the European afterwards, MBaye won another interim or whatever at 147lbs. :huh With the killers at 140 and 147lbs these two have really overachieved.

No technique, couldnt turn his punches over correctly, slapped, poor footwork, didnt have a trainer with credentials or even a background in the sport. Had ****** behind him and piggybacked off Hattons fans

Top fighter bit never truly proved it with his lack of fights against the top fighters, partly cos they weren't really around to fight. He should of been born 5 years earlier it later to have got the fights his record needs for him to be considered anywhere near an all-time great.

 

I just genuinely think he was a very poor boxer, who did extremely well against shite opposition.

 

Martinez is a good shout, sud.

 

He was a good boxer in the respect he outboxed his opponents with flurries of speed and relentless in the way he threw them for 12 solid rounds. Best stamina of anyone ever at 168.


He wasn't a good fighter tho I think. He never really hurt his opponents at the end of his career. His wins are tko rather than ko. His hand were shocking to be fair.

 

Yeah, used his attributes well but technically IMO he overachieved.
