    Bonus question: Name the 3 best HWs that Spinks of the first Ali fight could have beaten.

    If Leon Spinks can beat the rated and extremely hard punching Bernardo Mercado after the vulnerabilities he showed against Coetzee, surely there's more than a good chance Spink's in his prime defeats the likes of Shannon Briggs.

    When Spink's beat Mercado the hard hitting Colombian was on a winning streak, including a one punch first round knockout over a young Trevor Berbick and a knockout against Earnie Shavers.

    Yes a would give him a chance against briggs. And i would give him a decent chance against jack sharkey too.maybe bradock as well

    The Spinks that fought Ali the first time could have matched up well with a lot of guys .. Carnera, Braddock, Burns, Berbick (styles), Tubbs, Botha, Corbett ..

    To be honest, i dont see Leon beating any heavyweight champion in their prime.

    Mercado was horrible. And I don't think he hit as hard as Coetzee or was nearly as well rounded.

    Mercado beat a green Berbick in what seems like a flukish win and Shavers was old and gassed out.

    A pre top 10 Weaver and a young Tate had already stopped Mercado.

    That said, I think Leon could beat Briggs and even the (very) old Foreman of 1995-1997 time frame.

    Hell, the china chinned Darroll Wilson kod Briggs.

    He might outhustle Ruiz, as well.

    Braddock who lost to Louis, he'd been out of the Ring a few years.

    No way he beats marciano.. marciano would put him in the hospital. He would only beat Baer 1-2/10 fights if he fights perfectly without ever getting caught by Baers power, which would be incredibly difficult
