"Could" is a mighty big umbrella. Marciano is totally plausible.

Morrison would have seriously hurt Leon.

I don't think Gerrie Coetzee really landed his best shots on Leon...if he did, I think he would have killed him.

Seamus,...I like you very much as a poster, seriously,...but you must know that you're very wrong here...all three of these men would have hurt Leon badly, as in destroyed him. Maybe not Braddock. but he would have beaten Spinks on points, but the rest would have destroyed Leon.

"Could" is a mighty broad brush. At his brief best, Leon was a larger scale Aaron Pryor. Marciano quite possible is befuddled by this. Braddock figures him to be alien. Baer is worked over. Jeffries draws the Frightened Line.

Oh come on Seamus...with all due respect. They'd all figure him out and embalm him just like Gerrie Coetzee did.

    Lucky punch.

Gerrie never rematched. You think that wasn't on purpose?

Wait a second, do you really think the Spinks/Coetzee fight was a lucky punch?

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, to clarify.

Coetzee utterly destroyed Spinks...in the first round no less...why on earth do you think that a rematch was in order???

It was as far from a "lucky punch" as you could imagine...maybe Leon's mama thought it was. How much convincing does a person need that the better man just destroyed an opponent?

Some say it was the luckiest punch(es) landed in the modern day of the sport.

    And again, why no rematch?

    Checkmate.

"Checkmate?" Hardly:rolleye:... in the 39 years since that fight, I've never heard anyone opine that there was a lucky punch,....except for maybe you and mama Spinks.

How do you see a rematch between the two going?
