    That "I coulda been a contendah" speech in the cab still holds up. Great, great movie.

    It's a bit dated actually but the acting is just top notch. It's not really a boxing film but it's worth seeing the performances of the pugs. Karl Malden's performance is very underrated.


    Check out "The Outfit" when you ever have the chance. Roland La Starza is a hitman and Archie Moore does an even finer turn, with some decent air time.

    It does. Steiger's part in the cab gets overshadowed (unfairly) I thought. Both were equal.

    How about Robert Ryan in "The Set-Up"? -one of the best film noirs around.

    In my top 3 fight films. The others being Raging Bull and Fat City. Never underestimate the guy that's past it. He may just have one good fight left in him. :good

    Come to think of it --I think Lamotta was a bartender in "The Hustler" --another great film. Gleason proved that fat men can be cool.
