@One more round said "Daniel Dubois- I am unsure why but it is probably because he has the charisma of wood."

I think this may be my new favorite insult. :)

I want to like Tank but I just can't convince myself that he's in any way interested in fighting for legacy.

I always look boxers as people first and foremost. What they do in the ring is one thing but what matters to me most is what sort of values they have, what sort of example they show for fellow fighters and kids looking up to them. You can have a boxer with a not so stellar record who is a much better ambassador for the sport than a decorated champion.

From the current era, I don't like Fury for his stalling the division, constantly ducking top fighters and generally just being a loudmouth bully without backing his words up. He is a talented boxer, but between his constant going back on his words, contradictory and untruthful statements (giving aways his purse for charity and "eating wild boar testicles") and homophobic/antisemitic rants, he is just detestable as a person. When Ali talked about being the greatest, at least he backed his words up by literally fighting everyone who was anyone, from Liston to Patterson to Frazier to Foreman to Norton to Shavers.

And speaking of Ali, I never liked him either as person. I generally dislike trash talking and all the fake macho bull**** behaviour most boxers display publicly, and Ali was the one popularising and making the whole concept of adult athletes act and talk like teenagers at a school yard widely accepted. His achievements as a boxer are undeniable - his knocking out a seven year younger, 40-0 wrecking machine Foreman at 32 is still unbelievable. Also, I think Ali was gifted quite a few wins (Norton beat him all three times and Ali got away with blatant cheating in Ali-Frazier II) but most importantly, I just never understood how a wife beater who also impregnated a 17-year-old and treated Frazier the way he did could be adored by so many. I think most people just simply don't know about how many and how severe character flaws Ali had as a human being.

Sunny Edwards because, well, he's just a dipstick isn't he.

Claressa Shields...... her whiny yank voice just goes straight through me. Loud, obnoxious and deluded.

Broner. The bloke is just a ****ing idiot. Hung from Floyds coat tails whilst being half the fighter.

Floyd. The ego maniac still can't let go of the limelight. Just bore off now, you had your time.

Teo Lopez. Mainly because of his absolute plum of a dad.

Wilder because he cannot accept the better man won. Excuse after excuse. Embarrassing.

fun fact. Never at any point in Andrade's career has he fought a current, former or future world champion. Talented fighter but stealing a living. He's 34 now.

Maybe more and more people reevaluate Ali's sport achievements, as well as his character. But for his time, he found the perfect niche being black, big mouthed and going against the war, so that turned him into a hero of color and you know - people are careful when they've to question such individuals. But without taking anything from him, we just exclude what was given to, but undeserved. So we agree on this man, I think.

Now I find a third one I dislike - Wilder. A sore loser precisely, a man of very low IQ and dignity it seems and a golden balloon as he did his entire career on some walking bags, few decent fighters and lost to the first top he met. Was even saved twice: once against Ortiz when he was given a minute to recover right after the round started - the doctor decided to check on his obviously fine eyebrow, something that's done during the break. The second time was the draw against Fury.

I absolutely agree about Wilder here, mate. He is a very simple man and it's ridiculous how he just can't accept that Fury arguably beat him three times. Wilder has always been a protected fighter, and as you rightly say, he fought nobodies apart from Fury and Ortiz. He has done well for himself being a very limited fighter, I guess, but still - the stuff he came up with to "explain" why he lost (Fury cheated, the costume was heavy, he was drugged, his trainer was in on it, the referee was in on it, he was cursed by gypsy magic etc - lunacy) is just mind boggling. Also, people tend to forget how he talked about his desire to kill a man in the ring. I mean, there's trash talk/macho BS and then there's a lunatic with openly talking about murderous desires. Anyone who finds this sort of thing "entertaining" and "just hyping up fights" needs a straitjacket too. And after he kept talking about how he wanted "a body on my record", the crying his eyes out thing at the presser after the Helenius fight... Blimey, talk about a total nutcase.

I always liked the fighters who represented values I can relate to so fighters like Frazier and Usyk will always be my preferred ones even if they wouldn't have a stellar record. That's another reason why I really don't care for the Ali worshipping. Not only was he a horrible and despicable ******* to Frazier, but Frazier himself was the kindest, nicest guy you could meet. Doing the things Ali did was bad enough, but he did those things to Frazier of all people - after Joe supported him, helped him financially, personally went to Nixon to have Ali reinstated etc. I mean, you have to be a special kind of ***** to pull of the things Ali pulled off, and that's why I never liked the "relax, it's just trash talk for the fight" thing. Every coward and bully can play the "it's just a joke/it's just banter/it's just trash talk" card, that's the easiest thing to do in the world when you want to avoid taking responsibility for your actions and words.
