pacquaio, luisito espinosa, ray "boom boom" bautista Gerry penalosa once bought meat from my aunts meat shop in the philippines. That's where I first met him. Cool guy.
I've met a few boxers face to face, but of notable mention....I've seen Andre Ward in the gym several times. A good friend of mine spars with him on a regular basis. Ward is very personable, humble, and a DAMN hard worker. One of the most amazing things I've ever seen in person was the day I went to a private sparring session at Ward's Kings gym in Oakland. I was the only one in the gym who was not either a fighter or a trainer. Ward went 12 rounds while rotating in above mentioned friend (nowhere near being a taxicab driver), mma's Nick Diaz, and undefeated up and comer Brandon Gonzales. It was amazing. He fought the 12th just like he fought the 1st. He was not at all personable and humble in the ring. It got very heated even. At one moment he tossed Gonzales onto the floor, inches from the edge of the ring. Gonzales got up pissed and came back hard. Ward won a minimum of 8 rounds against the other three fighters. Probably the most amazing showcase of talent I've ever personally witnessed.
In the past 3 years of working at an electronics store, Ive sold Rampage Jackson a PS3, a xbox, dvds, 3 lcd tvs, and he requested Need for Speed of all games. He comes in all the time with a bunch of his boys.
Not a fighter but Raul Caiz the judge was my personal banker he used to manage the East LA branch of Bank of America off of Atlantic and Whittier. Which ironically was across the street from Oscar De La Hoya's charter school.
