Living in Vegas gave me the oppurtunity to see a lot of boxers but there's only two that I shook hands with and they were Pac and Hatton. I met Pac in Mandalay Bay and we talked for about 5 mins. He's really a down to earth guy. He talked to me like we already knew each other for a long time. I shook hands w/ Ricky Hatton and he was also cool. Asked me who I was rooting for. I smiled for a couple of seconds but before I could answer he said, it's okay, as long as you're a boxing fan, you're ok w/ me. He said something else but I really couldn't understand what he said because of that heavy British accent of his. He's a classy guy.
Yeah, Hatton's a pretty cool guy. Personally, I'm more of a Pacquiao fan myself but outside the ring you can't really say anything too bad about him.
To be honest about it I don't hold it to much against him, I just think he has too many 'Yes men' hanging around him.... I'm sure deep down inside he's pretty insecure.
Tito Trinidad, Freddie Pendleton, Vinny Paz, Oscar Larios are all sort of one shot deals. Since I know the NY GG's well (have friends who compete), I've met Danny Jacobs quite a few times. EDIT: Met Paul Williams as well. Nice guy. Completely forgot about him.
Oh yeah, Chef, I can't beleive I left this one out for you, it's true aswell.... I grew up about two miles away from where David Haye did, and although I don't know him personally, I'm now friends with one of the guy's who was in his class at school.... and guess what he always used to tell him, even at the age of eleven..... 'when I grow older I'm going to be the heavyweight champion of the world!'
back in 1997 i was in leicester square in london and went on some funfair ride with a few mates, the ride was terrible and spun round and round really fast, i was sick as a dog afterwards and all i wanted to do was get home and lie down in bed, anyway as im walking with my head spinning all over the place from leicester square back to piccadilly circus to get the train home i just so happen to barge some bloke with my shoulder 'whoops sorry mate! im not well" i look up and its chris eubank! he had parked some massive lorry on the street. ive always been a ben fan but i was lucky eubank did'nt spark me. first time i went on a plane to northern ireland barry mcguigan was on the same flight and i met him afterwards, nice bloke! i also live near where audley harrison grew up but ive never seen him. my dad was good mates with conteh and the finnigans.
He's a great guy I met him at the LA airport cause he was standing next to me on the line, we started talking about his next fight ( it was supposed to be Judah) Really down to earth person
