Armstrong: Armstrong struggled with the precision and skill of Lou Ambers at lightweight (but deserved both decisions); Mayweather struggled with the pressure of Jose Luis Castillo at lightweight (but won both decisions). Armstrong’s speed, pressure, work rate and ability to cut off the ring would give Mayweather headaches, but Floyd is also a master in-fighter and, as he showed against Ricky Hatton, and has the strength and skill to defuse or tie-up relentless, close-quarter attacks. He couldn’t match Armstrong’s work rate, but he would land a higher percentage of punches. In the end, I would favor Armstrong's activity over Mayweather's defensive mastery to catch the judges attention in a close decision win. (Although I don't rule out Mayweather)

Saddler: It's harder to say here because I believe the ref's get far more involved these days and a ref from the Saddler era I would predict Sadler, if Joe Cortez is in the ring I pick Mayweather as Sadler wouldn't have been able to get away with half the stuff he did so he'd probably lose by DQ but back in Saddler's day Mayweather would've been mauled.

At 135: Duran, Armstrong (Whitaker is 50/50, imo). The JCC that dismantled Rosario. Carlos Ortiz is a wild card, and Joe "Old Bones" Brown provides an interesting mirror match.

At 140: Loi, Pryor, DLH, probably Napoles. Locce's another interesting mirror match.

    147: SRR, SRL, Gavilan, Hearns.

Yeah SRR beats him at welterweight. I think Hearrns style is all wrong for Mayweather so he could beat him.

At lightweight a contest against a prime Duran would be a fight that is intriguing. I fancy Duran to be honest but Floyd would certainly give Stone Hands a tricky contest.

Again SRL has the tools to beat Floyd but if he didn't execute them right Mayweather would pick holes in Leonard. Would be another interesting contest, 50 - 50.

Floyd vs a prime Henry Armstrong! Think Floyd has a better defence but would that be enough to keep homicide hank off him for 12 rounds. The record of the latter suggests not.
I can't think of many others who could beat him. The same can be said for Mayweather vs a prime Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. Floyd would win the first half of the fight, could the Mexican catch up with Floyd?? It's possible.
Not sure about great old time fighters like Benny Leonard, Willie Pep, Ike Williams etc who are all meant to be sensational at their craft. The first two being great defensive fighters. They would have fought tougher competition than Floyd on a more regular basis. Would depend on what weight the fight was stipulated at.

One thing Mayweather lacks compared to a few of these fighters is an exceptional hard punch, the likes of Robinson, Hearns, Armstrong, Duran and SRL can bang and ko guys senseless whereas Mayweathers needs perfect timing and connection to usually put someone over. He can still punch just not like those guys mentioned.

Only certain thing is not many guys in the history of boxing could beat Floyd, who love him or loathe him, is a master at his craft.

Hell no it wouldn't. Mayweather stopped throwing in combinations ever since he moved up to 140+. This fight would be hell for Mayweather at 147. Williams has a solid chin, extremely active, keeps coming forward, throws in combinations, throws in odd angles, can fight ugly when necessary, has in sane height and reach, serious power and insane stamina. Mayweather could win this but it won't be clear, it would be a SD for sure. Williams has the style and tools to trouble someone in Mayweather's style of fighting. To trouble someone like Mayweather you need to be overly aggressive, fight ugly sometimes and keep throwing. Add to that Williams' size and freakish activity and you have a disaster of a fight for Mayweather. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Williams beat him either, this type of fight is 50/50 for sure.

Williams did not fight tall at all, threw a lot of punches, but got hit way more than he should. Interesting early, but Floyd would win going down the stretch. I liked Williams, but never thought he was great in any area.

De La hoya, Leonard, Whitaker, Mosley, all at their peaks beat prime Floyd. Oscar and Mosley were too fast (lightening fast) and powerful for Floyd to survive, Sugar slick and fast, loads of power, and whitaker would give Floyd fits giving him a taste of his own medicine but again too much power for Floyd. Speed and power kills Floyd. Look at what zab was able to do or what a washed up slow version of Oscar still did to Floyd. He's never faced this caliber of fighter armed with more speed than he's ever seen.
