Well Taylor was winning against Froch, but in terms of outcome...you can't get any closer. And since making this thread, my mind has gone blank...I can't think of any similar bouts. Yeah that's a good one...Marquez having trouble early on in both before forcing the stoppage.
Michael Nunn vs. Sumbu Kalambay Sergio Martinez vs. Paul Williams. Two southpaws, one punch crushing knockouts.
Allan Green vs Glen Johnson Daniel Jacobs vs Dimitry Pirog Both the underdogs rocked their opponent early on, before knocking them out later.
Prescott vs Khan Khan vs Salita lol. Both the losers were caught very early for their initial knockdown, before being stopped moments later. Khan's was obviously way more brutal.
Ray Mancini vs Art Frias and Nigel Benn vs Iran Barkley. Both one round wars. Mancini and Benn both get rocked and stop their opponent late in the round.
Calzaghe v Lacey. Hopkins v Pavlik. Similar in a way, Calzaghe clearly being the more dominant. Both Calzaghe and Hopkins beating the younger favourite...giving them a boxing lesson, whilst showing their limitations.
Joe Calzaghe vs Roy Jones Jr Pacquiao vs Margarito Both Jones Jr and Margo were carried through the last rounds in one sided fights that could have ended sooner. Also: Froch vs Taylor Abraham vs Taylor
Martinez-Pavlik and Pacquiao-Margarito were similar stylistically with similar height and weight differences. Kotelnik-Alexander and Clottey-Judah, Jones-Tarver and Pascal-Dawson, and some of Pep-Saddler IV (without the dirty stuff) and Margarito-Cotto were all similar style match ups.
good thread :good How about, Felix Trinidad vs Fernando Vargas and Joel Casamayor vs Michael Katsidis - Younger, exciting, and undefeated fighter vs older, more experienced veteran - Katsidis is down twice in the first round, comes back in the middle rounds to knock casa down once, Casa is deducted a point for low blows, and stops Katsidis in the championship rounds
Alexander/Kotelnik - Williams/Martinez I (right down to the robbery. A little known foreign fighter out-boxes a star american, does more damage, lands harder punches and gets robbed.)
Just watched on You Tube during my break. Nice fights. I need to watch more Nigel Benn. He was in his prime while I was busy with junior high, high school, sports etc...
