No BS about how the money has to be right, no BS about A-side vs. B-side, just 100% truth. I agree with him and it's smart for him and his team to realize this. Monster wants to fight 3-4X this year before a showown w/ Roman.
Smart move. Monster is a fitting name, but another year of seasoning would help him tremendously. It's insane what he's accomplished already as a pro- he's just giving Roman and a potential match with him the respect it deserves. It's going to take something special to beat Chocolatito. Inoue could be the guy, but he's not there yet.
It's easy to become overconfident when you've smoked and crushed 2 champions with ease. He made Narvaez his personal *****, knocking him down 2X and then knocking him out. A prime Nonito Donaire wasn't able to put a dent in Narvaez.
He beat the champ at the division above Gonzalez and the champ in the division below Gonzalez. His jump over Gonzalez division now looks like a duck. It looks like HBO has been doing all sorts of things trying to get him to fight in the states for the express purpose of building up a fight with Gonzalez and he wants to take the exposure plus extra money without ever fighting the opponent they are building him up for? This sounds like Ward inking a deal with HBO to fight Kovalev in a year and then possibly weaseling out after some ****ty tune up fights. He's bigger than Gonzalez and will likely grow out of that upper division in a year or two to one that Gonzalez can't make. Who's he signed with? I know he got injured a year ago and that accounted for some of his layoff, but he's been inactive longer than it takes to heal and I thought he was trying to change management or promoters to get some U.S. representation connected to HBO. Haymon got Tomoki Kameda over here. I wonder if he's bending Inoue's ear now?
The guy has had all of 8 professional fights for godssake. And he's like 21 years old and you're saying he's ducking?
Inoue needs to prove himself against The Baby Faced Assassin Paul Butler, while Gonzalez needs to take the test and fight Prince Patel. If they both win, then we'll talk but the hunch is the world will be demanding Butler v Patel instead.
:deal Paul Butler is one of the best at super fly. He was fighting a middleweight in tete, and it was a 1 out of a million punch. :thumbsup
He's signed with Ohashi, there is NO Haymon link at all, hence the talk with HBO. He injured his hand then re-injured it. There has been NO SUGGESTION of signing with anyone else and has been spending time sparring left handed at the Ohashi gym. Him and Mr Ohashi appear to have an excellent relationship with the Ohashi gym having a family-like feel to most the guys signed to them. The "jumping over Flyweight" was due to the fact they couldn't tie Reveco to a title bout last year and instead skipped the division and got Narvaez. Feelers were sent to Reveco from both Inoue and Ioka, though those plans were put on ice as Reveco had to face Yodmongkol in a mandatory, rather than waiting around he decided to make history.
