Naoya Inoue relinquishes his belts - Moves up to Super Bantam

That's too bad. He just unifies the title and instead of becoming an all-time great bantamweight by defending five or so times he moves up another weight class. Definitely one of the flaws of modern boxing. Get off my lawn!

I love that he's chasing further greatness at 122, but would have preferred if he made one defense of his undisputed crown. Vincent Astrolabio would be a great scalp as he did comprehensively beat Rigondeaux, albeit an even older one coming off a horrific performance against Casimero. Astrolabio is one to keep an eye on. He could prove to be the man at 118.

Inoue missed weight (just barely) for Butler, so it's definitely time.

 

Akhmadaliev isn't much bigger, half an inch advantage in height and reach but yeah the rest will be bigger but then again Donaire was naturally bigger and taller having come down in weight and Inoue crushed him like a bug.

Will be interesting to see of his power moves up with him like it has in the previous divisions. I suspect his power will still be too much for anyone at 122 as Donaire took punches from guys at 126 and Walters was the only one that could stop him.

 

Fulton ain't scared of inoue you crazy. He can't make the weight and is rematching a guy who some people thought beat him and fig is no bum he's a good fighter. I'd pick both to beat inoue at 122.

Fulton said in June he'd smoke Inoue and is also willing to go to Japan to fight him. Funny how that energy changed after Inoue knocked out Butler and moving to 122 became a reality. Fulton also said in a live stream that he thought Inoue was a more difficult fight than MJ or a Figueroa rematch.



Check out Fulton's BFF pretty much admitting they don't want the fight and telling Inoue to fight Fulton at 126. Same as Spence running to 154 to duck Crawford.

Typical. Guy promises to do this and that and as soon as shits get real, guy runs away and you defend it. That would be like Inoue caling out Fulton, saying he'd destroy him, is willing to travel to America, and then decides to defend his undisputed title and remain at 118.

If Fulton doesn't come back down to 122, it's a flat out duck.

Fulton claims he's been trying to make the fight with MJ, but never heard back. That fight would have happened in December or this February/March at 122, not 126 where he's heading to swerve Inoue.
