Naoya Inoue vs Junto Nakatani IS ON for May 2nd

Should be an exciting fight although Inoue will be rightfully favored to win.

 

Anyone know how to go about getting tickets for this as someone who doesn't live in Japan?

 

Great stuff. A big legacy fight for both.

Those drawing from the Hernandez fight to conclude Nakatani is cannon fodder are way off.

Inoue, rightfully so, will take this one very seriously.

 

Styles make fights. Hernandez style is a nightmare for anyone.

 

Possible fight of the year contender here. Looks like a Japanese version of Leonard vs Hearns lol

 

Awesome fight, glad they made this, two stars in their prime that are dangerous fighters. I must say as a guy who casually follows the little guys I have not seen much of Nakatani. What is is his path to victory here? How does he stack up to Inoue in terms of style and attributes. I feel like Inoue should be a clear favorite here but he has shown some vulnerabilities recently, getting dropped and stunned in a few fights.

 

inoue wins unless he gets chinned which is a possibility in this one lol.. still say 70/80% inoue win though

 

Interesting fight but I see Inoue as a heavy favorite. Nakatani struggled a lot against Reyes in his super bantamweight debut (in a very close fight, where the decision could have gone to either fighter in my opinion), I wonder what will happen to Junto when he faces a fighter with the footwork, accuracy and speed of the Monster. I'm going for Inoue by decision or late stoppage (and I'd be really surprised if I'm wrong, but the ring always has the final say).

 

Funny thing about this one. Nakatani did not look good in his debut at 122 pounds a few months back and you would think that would favor Inoue, which it does. However, Inoue has not been the same fighter his last three or four fights. He has been hit more often and his power hasn’t been as impressive.

Nakatani hits a lot harder than the guys Monster has fought recently and while Inoue should certainly be favored this is an extraordinarily dangerous fight for him.

 

i think its going to be fairly one sided. i dont understand the level of hype for nakatani. i think he is very good, but not in the class of special that inoue is. not saying inoue is just going to run him over, but i think he will be in total control in the fight.

 

I think Inoue has the edge in power and speed as well. There's no way Nakatani could blow away Fulton as Inoue did, I think. Hernandez was walking through his best shots for 12 rounds unbothered and arguably should've got the decision.

 

I think this fight will generate, or even surpass, the enthusiasm among Japanese fans of Hiroyuki Sakamoto vs Takanori Hatakeyama.
