It didn't for me for two reasons; Donaire was setting up his shots very well with the kind of timing that only comes from experience (he just knew when to throw and when not to) and Inoue is going to learn from this. I expect his team to work on his defense stat. As stated before, this fight is only going to make him better. Also, that nasty cut was apparently hampering his vision since round 2.
If there's one thing we know is consistently true in this sport... Once tissue is cut, that shit can always get reopened. Factor in the unpredictable trajectory of some of Oubaali's bombs, and the propensity for fast-paced orthodox versus southpaw boxer-puncher match-ups to produce head clashes, and ..
He'll beat either of them, I'm fairly confident in that. Only to get fed to a Monster, what unjust desserts.
I think Inoue in his Top Rank debut could fight someone like Joshua Greer Jr, which would be a big downgrade from his previous foes.
You know if Oubaali was Mexican instead of Moroccan-French there would already be a sizable handful of ride-or-die nationalistic fever votes for him.
That actually works out for the best, since if you left the Nery vs. ManRod winner still at large without having a reckoning with Oubaali first, it would just be a ridiculous anticlimax. Inoue vs. Oubaali would be the unification match and determinant of "the man"; having an extra belt holder floating around would just be awkward.
Not ruling a Rod upset out either. Nery is so crude and it will eventually comeback to bite him. He can't just bulldoze everybody. No defense either. Inoue would KO him early. 100%
I've got a buddy over in SA(not on this forum) Who's done some coaching and has been around most of the recent SA fighters a fair bit. He said Tete could easily compete as a Welterweight and cuts an EXTREME amount of weight. Dudes one of the worst weight bullies there is. But said that Tete is a great guy in the gym. Great sparring etiquette and just general gym behavior.
