Inoue need to be more defensively responsible. His defense is really good, but he just rushes himself and leaves himself open. He need to take his time in the first couple rounds and read his opponent a bit more before going on an onslaught.

He got hit multiple times already by the left hook... Donaire, Nery and now Cardenas. He need to keep his guard tight and not get hit by the same shot in the future.

100% he could just sit on the outside landing pot shots all day, but you need to take risks to get knockouts consistently and he's the only person delivering at the top level right now

Inoue is a lot more proven than those guys. Also remember Cardenas is rated by The Ring

    .
Cardenas did try switching guards and that allowed him to land a big right hand counter but in the end it was the same strategy, wait and then counter. Yeah there's levels, Cardenas had one strategy, one plan, Inoue has more in his repertoire and we saw Inoue quickly adapt and change things up and once Inoue took away the threat of the counter left and then counter right, Cardenas didn't have anything else to get to Inoue with.

Great fight. I knew nothing about Cardenas but I got a bit worried when I saw him in his corner as there was something about him physically and his body language that lead me to believe he was going to pose Inoue problems and then my suspicions were confirmed after seeing him in that opening round because it was clear he was very competent, had a tight defence, a good game plan and he was sneaky and fast with his attacks and his shots looked dangerous

Disappointing Inoue got caught and dropped by the exact same shot as Nery dropped him with and I was really concerned he was going to get caught and dropped again because, as said, Cardenas' shots looked dangerous

Some absolutely sublime and vicious offensive bursts there from Inoue when he switched to a higher gear though and Cardenas did well to withstand as many of those withering sustained assaults from Inoue as he did

Inoue simultaneously looked a bit vulnerable and absolutely electric. I think he should give 126 a miss. He can win a world title up there but trying to become undisputed up there will really increase the chance of him losing. I think he's capable of achieving it but the risk of him losing trying to do so might be too high

Another thing. Fighters should not sign for their next fight until they take care of the opponent they’re facing.

I’m not superstitious, but it’s a sign of disrespect and a sign of overconfidence, and thus can bring bad luck.

So refreshing to see class acts like those two. Great to see the level of respect that they have for each other after a great show.
