Those left hooks at the beginning of the vid and at the 9:13 mark This content is protected This content is protected
Inoue got tagged flush when he went in for the kill against Jamie Lannister McDonnell... A heavy handed puncher could have made him pay.
Boxing's ultimate goal is to get hit, and hit back harder... aka the sweet science. Inoue always hits back harder.
Amen to that. One of the best things about this forum was that I found out about him around the Taguchi fight and have been able to see the rise to the top. I still remember when he was the underdog in his first title fight against Hernandez and absolutely destroyed him at the ripe old age of 20
I think he's open for the left hook counter when on the offensive, but do you dare to hook with a hooker? Donaire does, that's his money shot, and got the size and chin to go into deep waters with Monsta, for better or worse. It's an great final because even at this stage, Nonito packs the power to upset, though I expect Team Inoue to respect that shot and be clever.
He learned from that against Rodriguez (who hits harder, I think), since he was more conscious of slipping shots and staying defensively responsible up to and even after he hurt E-Rod.
Put it this way: his defense is as good as it needs to be versus pretty much anybody south of featherweight.
Bump. Must admit his last fight against Butler really shows how much Inoue has improved defensively. Say what you will about the opponent but I saw some nice maneuvers even against a fighter that was constantly retreating. That's been one of the things that people have questioned regarding his sometimes defensive lapses but now it seems like he's more focused on head movement. Great to see him consistently improve with each fight.
Inoue's defense is excellent especially for how offensive he is. He's elite across the board, so the only thing that's worthy of criticism is his defense, which shines a light on what is a perceived weakness. Inoue gets hit less than Crawford, Lomachenko, and Usyk. Only active guy that gets hit less is Bivol. Not going to count Haney and Stevenson as they are gigantic weight bullies with hollow resumes and fighting much smaller guys.
We'll see how good his defense is when he moves up to 122. Donaire hit him with big shots in the first fight so I'd say his defense is around a C+.
A B+ is very good. To be excellent he's gotta have an A at least. I sort of agree with Tomato(e) on this one ya dig.
