well said. ol' nard knows what the fans want and he obviously knows his **** when it comes to boxing. i definitely agree with what he said about needing those throwback fights that take us back to the days when fighters would get in there and go toe-to-toe in all out wars because it was more about pride than money. that's what bothers me so much about floyd and the direction this sport is heading in (with floyd's contribution). when i watch him fight these days, i see the exact opposite of everything i love about boxing.
Bernard is pulling the same bull**** Floyd is, taking the easiest stylistic fight with built in advantages that idiots in the public can't see and making easy money from it. Yeah and lost 3 out of those 4.
When it comes to Floyd, everyone agrees with the other guy lol... Too bad Bernard was perceived a bully for beating Tito, Dlh, and Winky. Had JMM been faster than Floyd, nobody would be talking about JMM-Floyd being a mismatch. Most smaller guys moving up in weight are faster than the bigger guy they are fighting. It just so happened that Floyd was faster than JMM, and better defensively which is what people had a problem with, and why they called this fight a mismatch.
Im JMM were faster than floyd then your right people probably wouldnt have been calling it that much of a mismatch. But he is faster, and stronger, and better defensively, and bigger. Floyd basically had every possible advantage. You wouldnt call that a mismatch?
I'm a Hopkins fan but he comes off as bitter in this. Here's a guy who made a career out of fighting guys coming up in weight and he has the nerve to bash PBF?
Carmen Basilio and Roberto Duran against Robinson and Leonard should convince every fan that a mismatch in size does not matter all the time.
Yes. Physically, JMM had no advantage at all in this fight. Anything that could be against him was, and yet I didnt hink it would be that bad of a clinic. Granted all he did was potshot all night, and Marquez wasnt the best measuring stick, he was as sharp and fast as ever.
Yes but it was more than a mismatch in size. Floyd had the speed and strength and skill too. And JMM isnt a come forward pressure fighter, he is a counter puncher, so thats not the best comparison
I guess you did 'nt read the interview " But Floyd don't remember when he bum rushed Cory Spinks' press conference after Spinks won in Vegas "
