Who..Robinson?Ingle?Bungu?Shot Kevin Kelly who had been ko'd only 2 1/2 years before Hamed and still knocked him down 3 times?33 year old Johnson?Had to be stretchered out of the ring 3 times-second time against Hamed chinless Augie Sanchez? Hamed ducked Marquez like the plague even though Marquez was the WBO #1 contender for 2 years running.Erik Morales was ducked for awhile and when he finally fought Barrera,he got smashed into the turnbuckle.Hell, even Mayweather challenged Hamed at a catchweight of 128,to which Hamed replied,"How many times do you want me to move up?"Hamed's career was typical of the alphabet bull**** that plagues boxing to this day.Hamed simply ducked the best fighters in his division when he was on the go and then retired.
Fair post, i dont see the "alphabet" **** like i do now, naturally. Hamed always got a good match up, Robinson was at hella short notice too. Yeah he is probably last in the line regarding Hameds run.
Actually it was Marquez who turned down the fight with Hamed, even Nacho admitted it. Its not possible to be number one contender for 2 years and not get a shot, unless u dont want it.
When Hamed was a unified world champion, Marquez was losing NABF title shots. JMM was a nobody, who didn't rise to prominence until about 2 years after Hamed had retired. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but don't give me this **** about Hamed ducking JMM, because its just circumstantial 'mando challenger' bull****. Hamed beat every world title holder in the division, the fact that you claim 'he ducked all the best fighters in the division' just goes to show that you are totally ignorant of the subject. Marquez, Morales, Pacquaio and Barrera are essentially a different era to Hamed. They came after him. When Hamed was at his peak, the division's main men were Johnson, Vasquez, Medina and Kelley - all of whom were KO'd by Hamed. Throw in other world title holders like McCullough, Soto, Ingle, Robinson & Bungu and you have a strong resume to compliment a great career.
Barrera and Naseem are from the same era. He stepped up in competition and lost. He had talent but he never beat anyone great.
vargas was better than naz. the winky win was better than anything naz did. and vargas didn't retire at the first sign of trouble. and the quartey win.
Ignorant? You just made my point. The top fighters were JOHNSON,Vasquez,Medina and KELLEY?Yeah, all HOFers.Johnson was old and done, and Kelley was a ko victim just 2 1/2 years before.McCullough was a punchless bantamweight who relied on heart and still managed to go the distance and the others were, well, the others. The truth is that Hamed never beat a great fighter and retired after he finally fought one, who,by the way,had himself been ko'd by Junior Jones at bantamweight. Can anyone hear spell overrated,Hamed?Thank you.And JMM WAS the #1 WBO ranked for 2 years. In fact there was an interview in Ring Magazine last year with JMM who is still pissed off that Hamed ducked him even after all these years.
I love how you just try and discredit Hamed's resume in general. I find it kind of amusing. Kelley was a two-time world champion, Johnson had just made 11 successful defences of his IBF belt, Medina won five world titles, and Vasquez was a three-weight world champion. McCullough went the distance with a prime Hamed and Morales, picked up a world title on the way. Soto, Robinson and Ingle were all ranked Top 10 guys, and world title holders. Vuyani Bungu had just made 14 succesful defences of his belt before Hamed KO'd him. Whichever way you look it, you can't argue with Hamed's resume.
