I don't believe that. Naz's hunger and dedication to the sport had gone before the Barrera fight. No chance a prime Naz gets beaten like that.

Why do you think that? Just wondering. He was only 28 at the time and arguably in his prime. Still undefeated and still a champion. The Barrera bout could have catapaulted him even further into the spotlight (even after losing - had he come back stronger as champs are meant to after a loss)

To be fair though, thinking about the bout; the fact Naz didnt jump over the ropes that night was a bad sign and indicated that he was far from up for it!? And the less said about his 'comeback' bout against Calvo the better!

Handing over power to his brothers to manage/train him didn't do him any favours if I remember correctly...

I just think fame and fortune along with complacency was the end of him. I don't think he gave a **** towards the end of his career.

To a degree Im sure that had an impact yeah! Along those lines I think that he was actually believing his own hype, that he was unbeatable.

And not to bring religion into this but he always said God (or Allah - cant remember his religion) was behind him and guiding him to his destiny. Could it be he felt abandoned/let down by God after the loss he never expected to be on the receiving end of?

He may well have been on the slide before Barrera as you suggested but that loss truly destroyed him as a boxer IMO

no longewr having ingle training him
    lost all desire
manny steward tried to change his style fairly disastrously
only sparred about 15 rounds for barrera fight allegedly
had fallen in lo0ve with his 1 shot power and forgotten how to jab etc

was a massive shame as i am convinced early on in his career like 6 fights previously he would have given barrera fits and koed morales

i had the same belief that he tried his best and failed but i had a look at the little prince the big fight...his camp is ****ing awful, not listening to anybody. bombing a speedbag. fighting poor sparring partners. wathcing too much of the poison jones figth to make assumptions.

i guess he was arrogant but not the arrogance before which was trying to show off and set a wager down that he cant beaten. but in the berrera fight he just seemed to wait for berrera to open up...which a young vet like marco totally took advantage over.

also stuff on the night with the complaing about the gloves, the lack of the leap, the near hour wait.

i dunno, too flat footed and didnt have any bite and devil in him when berrera pushed him around and hit him in the turnbuckle.
