Nope At any one time Naz would have had more than a couple of the following ahead of him: Oscar, Roy Jones, Tito, Mosely, Sweet Pea, Zoo, B-Hop, Morales, Floyd and Corrales. I'm pretty sure ring had him top ten a few times but never seriously a #1 consideration.

Absolutely. It's subjective and I 'considered' him to the best boxer in the world after the Steve Robinson performance, either him or Roy Jones.

Considering him the best and being P4P #1 is entirely different though, no? There's an argument that someone like Adrien Broner is one of the best fighters in the world on ability. But we wont know if he actually is until he's fought people of note. Until then, there are a host of more worthy candidates above him. Naz, at the time of the Robinson fight, hadnt fought anyone approaching world level. Some good victories following that fight would have put him in most people's P4P top ten but he would unlikely have ever been any higher than around #6 on most people's lists. Not sure where he reached in Ring's rankings but I'd be surprised if he ever broke top 5.
Just looked up his record Tom Johnson,Robinson,badillo and many others earlier in his title run He had a very good resume in that he fought capable fighters and was dominant and exciting.the problem was when he reached his expected peak he lost interest in improving and the discipline involved What a shame could hameds name been alongside Barrera,Marquez,morales and pacquiao He would of added a touch of show business to a quartet of outstanding fighters who were brilliant to watch
I've never really understood the whole "Naz was well beaten by Barrera" I've watched the fight many times and he certainly lost, but well beaten really??
'P4P #1' is mythical nonsense. Ring didn't have 'P4P' rankings back then. However, KO Magazine had an end-of-year vote among Yank 'experts' and Naz was #10 in '95 (Nigel Benn was #11), not that that means anything.
