Hamed Sparks Him Out.

 

Mayweather is way too skilled to lose this one. Sometimes on here he seems to not be recognized as the ATG he is. Yeah, I don't like his personality either, but NONE of that takes away a single thing from the fact that he's not an easy fight for any fighter ever, at any weight he can comfortably make.

FM takes this. Hamed was way to fundamentally flawed

 

Floyd toys with Naz, gets bored after a while and sparks him out.

Then the matchmaker is charged with extreme cruelty.

 

I agree with this but there is a few names i would've liked to have seen Hamed fight.

Luisito Espinosa
Juan Manuel Marquez

I know Espinosa was rated top 2 for a significant number of years, i know it's been suggested by some that Hamed may of avoided Espinosa. I'm not sure i believe that but i feel like Espinosa would've been a tough opponent for him regardless.

 

Of course there are names that, had Naz fought and beat, would have improved his resume. Though that applies to just about every fighter in history.

My point was that whilst the hype around Naz in the UK at the time may have been disproportionate to his achievements, some people go too far the other way nowadays. Beating 8 x fighters whilst they were ranked top 5 at FW and only ever losing once, stacks up pretty well in historical terms.

 

I wasn't disagreeing with you BTW you know my thoughts on Hamed, I've defended him before even though I'm not a fan of his. I was just saying i would've liked to of seen him fight the two fighters above.

Without hindsight probably Espinosa was the biggest name Hamed didn't fight. As no one knew at that time how good Marquez would be, he didn't impress vs Norwood in an ugly fight. And really only started to show his real potential in the 1st fight vs Pacquiao by which time Hamed was long gone being retired for a few years.

I don't recall a huge clammer for Espinosa at the time, but he certainly would have enhanced Naz's resume.

I've not seen enough of Luisito to confidently make a pick. They both fought Soto in 1999, Naz winning and Espinosa losing. At 31 and having previously beaten Soto, Espinosa may have been on the slide by 99, though I believe a Naz, that from what I've heard, was only training for weight making purposes, was too. Espinosa was probably better around 96, but so was Naz.

 

The Hamed of 01 was not the Hamed of 97/98 he started to mentally decline.
