Hamed had a great punch but LaPorte’s chin was bulletproof. I think Hamed would just be busier than LaPorte, who often struggled to let his hands go. Hamed on points by about 4 rounds, I reckon.
Hamed's speed, movement and power would ensure he would win on all cards. No way does he stop the durable La Porte.
I think @salsanchezfan has said this a few times about Juan Laporte, is that he has a tendency to cover up and go into a bit of shell not doing much. No doubt Laporte did good have moments where he did well vs elite opposition. But I feel like Hamed's power would make him go into a shell, and Hamed would win a decision. As others have said no way he stops Laporte who went distance with the likes of Salvador Sanchez, Azumah Nelson, Julio Cesar Chavez.
Well i didn't want to list every name i was just making the point, regardless as we know Laporte was probably one of the most durable little guys in history. But my issue with him is that he could go into shell and not doing anything for large periods, which stopped him from reaching the very top. But still he could still put in very credible performances against the top names, his best performance for me was his win over Ruben Castillo great fight that was.
I felt the fight with John John he was "strangely" passive and you know what I mean by that, you know that his hands maybe were ehem ,"cuffed cuffed"! But rewatching it recently I realized that wasn't the case and that it was probably more a case of what you just said that darn shell. Same in the fight with Lupe Gutierrez (I think thats the guy's last name) where he dropped Lupe in round one and then went into that shell.
LaPorte was a very good fighter but he lost every fight to the big names on his record. He is famous for fighting everyone...but losing to them. You can argue Hamed never fought anyone as good as half the guys on LaPorte's record but he was a very good long time champ who has a single loss to an ATG so jus on the basic facts I go with Hamed.
