so many simpletons come out when Hamed is named. He dominated a division above his natural weight for 4+ years, winning every title and the linear title in the process.
extremely entertaining. In his time, I have never seen someone have so much fun boxing in a ring with so many people watching. Carefree, relaxed, he was having the time of his life in there.
:roflThat was a MEAN right hand, the cut with it was brutal too. There used to be a video of it, but the 'TubeNazis probably deleted it. Another thing interesting about this, this was MAB's first loss yet he didn't tuck his tail he kept on fighting and look where he is now.
[yt]UXQ6kLhPyz0[/yt] hamed's first title defense....the unorthodox style, the brutal knockouts...when do you ever see this at the lower weights?
[yt]oM6Ey3vb4m0[/yt] someone PLEASE try to tell me this little ***** wasn't exciting as hell he always looked off balance, but his footwork was incredible...always in position to land a knockout
Hamed is one of the most underrated fighter on this site. It seems like a lot of people refuse to give him his props because they never liked his cocky personality.
Hamed was exposed long before Barrera did it. Look at the Kelley and Sanchez fights, these guys were outboxing Hamed and got cocky, Hamed's freakish power bailed him out. Mab just fought in a way to prevent that power to bail him out and look what it did, Hamed looked like a real tool in tha fight.
Exactly. Back when he was with Ingle Naz would've wiped his arse with those guys, but he got too cocky and he got complacent. In terms of natural talent, he's up there with Mayweather, Jones, De La Hoya, Ray Leonard and ANYONE you care to mention. And btw, he didn't get exposed by MAB. It was a competitive fight. Look at his record. He dominated the featherweight division, NOT his natural division, for 5 years. he lost ONCE, to a legit ATG, in a close fight. Thats a pretty ****ing impressive resume. And lest we forget he was by far the most entertaining featherweight of the 90's. His style was just ridiculous. No-one, not even Ali or Jones, could embarass a guy so effortlessly than Naz.
It depends on what you mean by an all time great? Hamed was great (arguably)..he beat some solid fringe contender and alphabet holders. The issue is he did not really beat anyone great, priced himself out of some that could have raised his legacy, and finally chose barrera as a percieved easier option than morales etc....and then came up short in what was his carrear defining fight. Some can say he was out of shape or whatever story they like...the truth is in his carrear defining fight he came up short...of he did not take it seriously (I personally don't believe this) than even more disrespect shopuld be heaped his way...how do you not take your biggest test seriously???? Either way i think he was great, however I have him well bellow others who actually performed better against elite opposition. KO Barrera on any day..i don't think so!
Actually 2 of 3 judges had Kelly winning at the time of stoppage...but Hamed did do what he was supposed to. I do however think that kelly exposed some faults in hameds style and made him adopt a much more orthodox approach in order to beat him.
