Nas was nothin' but great in his prime. Very entertaining. I loved the fact he lost to Barrera. I wish he would've kept fighting more than once following. The loss may have seasoned him a bit and served to enhance his skill level.

I remember watching him have a lot of trouble with Augie Sanchez, and I also remember thinking after the Kelly fight that if he had been in with a prime Kelly he would have lost that fight.

Naz had monstrous punching power, no doubt, but he never really showed anything else against good competition. His style was showy but easily exploited by top class guys. Whether he would have been able to compete with them if he had trained harder will never be known, but I suspect not. I think it was his bad luck that his championship reign got taken over by four of the best FW's in the history of the sport, all stalking the division at the same time.

I wish he would have continued fighting, he could still be going to this day if he had and maybe we would have FIVE featherweight superstars at the same time. That would have been amazing and brought big paychecks to everyone involved.

Also I keep seeing people saying MAB and EM ducked Hamed. Somebody's smoking crack... 'ducking' that fight for them would have been like someone ducking ODLH, EVERYBODY wanted to fight Naz because that's where the money was, and it was widely known that whoever won the first MAB-EM fight would get Naz and they both wanted him very badly. MAB got it because most people thought that he actually won that fight and the rest is history. Had it been Morales it would have most likely been the same result.

Yeah, Hamed had trouble with Sanchez - because Augie was extremely sharp that night, not to mention the fact that Augie Sanchez was a very, very good little fighter, period. Sanchez beat Floyd Mayweather in the amateurs. Also, Kelly was extremely sharp the night he fought Hamed as well, I have to disagree. Hamed put on two of his best performances against those two, and those two put on two of their best performances against Hamed. You're shorting the guy a bit, IMO.
