Naz was a one off. No one can doubt his talent. He had amazing charisma and looked unstoppable during his reign. He had a really bad night against Barrera. But that fight was post prime Naz who had split with Ingle and let all the fame and bollocks get to his head, he didn;'t train as hard and he had bad hands Taking nothing from Barrera, he fought a terrific fight and really did a job on Naz. But there will only ever be One Prince Naseem Hamed :good
nassems resume is list a whose who of the divisions nobodys.definently nowhere near a legend.his ring entrance in the barrera fight where he came down on the throne was pathetic & laughable:rofl.he actaully thought he was the prince.overrated hype job by the english media.
Wish I would have been there for that one. I enjoyed the hell out of it from my couch, but that must have been amazing.
yes trust me they were , prince was calling the two of them out for a long time , they didnt want to fight , when he fought augie sanchez it was supposed to be a matchup with morales but they didnt want it , when barrera beat prince it was after prince hadnt fought for a year .
I listed Naseem as one of the most overrated fighters in a thread a while back on most overated fighters on HBO. I caught a lot of arguements stating otherwise. Yeah no doubt he had a very unique and exciting boxing style that most people who watched him will never forget. He was very charismatic and one of the better talents I had seen in the ring. With all that said, I will always remember Naseem's fight with Barerra. Naseem was not only beat, but outclassed by a much more tactical boxer in Barrera. I think its not the fact that Naseem lost a fight, all the greats have lost fights; but the the way he left the sport. Only Naseem knows why he left, but that left a clear question mark in his legacy.
the prince was one of the greatest entertainers in boxing history, top 5 on the mic and had incredible power for his weight. Overrated or Not, Thats how he should be remembered. Nothing more, nothing less
He was a huge puncher, charismatic, and his vault over the ropes was unique. Other than that, he had no defense, and fought with his head in the air. His power got him to a certain point, but once he reached Barrara's level, even Stevie Wonder could see that Naz couldn't compete. Apparently Hamed realized this too, and retired before he got his head knocked off.
You sure that's what you saw? Sounds like one from your "private" collection to me. Hamed could/should have been great, instead was just very good - find me a better left hook than the one that took out Liendo.
