Not sure what you mean with that? Only a fool would say he wasn't blessed with great talent (whether he utilised it best is another argument), and he wasn't so much popular as he was simply 'known'.

    no. he over-rated himself.

the ingle style threw everyone off, but barrera was just too sharp.

In a way, yes. He made boxing popular and mainstream in the U.K. This is essentially down to his persona.

Dude you're living in a dream world if you think he wasn't hyped to the balls. When he beat Kelley people were saying he was possibly the greatest British boxer of all time. He and the British public were quickly brought back to Earth.

Hamed didn't have the tools to be an ATG.

I'm not saying he wasn't hyped or anything like that, I'm just saying that it's pretty foolish to say that he wasn't talented. He had a punch, speed, and a chin, it's what every boxer wants. He could stink up a joint like anyone's business, and it eventually told that he didn't have it in him when up against a true champion, but I just don't go along with this stuff that everything else is negated because of it.

There'a no doubt he was talented and I haven't negated anything. I've never said he wasn't talented, he is one of the biggest punching featherweights I've seen, great chin too.

But this thread is titled "Naseem Overrated?" and the fact is he is/was (in Britain at least) because he was so popular and fun to watch. His style was too unorthodox to make him truly great.

It was certainly a fan friendly style. I'd love to see someone like him come along again.

In my opinion Hamed was the perfect Ingle fighter and basically simultaneously shows the benefits and limitations of the Ingle style.
