That's the difference and you're 100% spot on. For a century boxers have fought as a sideline until they got high enough to dedicate to the sport full-time - usually if a promoter backed them, and a very limited cohort. Women are being told that they can go full-time pro much earlier because certain promoters are choosing to go that way, off the back of amateur boxing making out the genders are equal.
